STOP THE SPREAD!
🌀I’ve added a new page to ARTFOODHOME.COM “The New Reality -Covid 19 Pandemic” bookmark this page or visit the page via a link on my Facebook – these are my thoughts going through this awful time – would love to hear yours! #wereallinthistogether
We’ve all heard about the global pandemic that this world is facing – Coronavirus (Covid 19) – This virus is serious business and it will take everyone to do their part including “social distancing” (keeping more to yourself, away from large (or small) gatherings). This is becoming the new reality, at least for the near future.
THIS MEANS EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE needs to participate in “social distancing” and basically staying home and not going out unless necessary and when you do go out take precautions. This is such serious business. Italy is telling us what they wish they would have done. If they would have limited contact with others for a while the spread wouldn’t have been so bad. #itsnotforever
I can keep myself busy all day long, so I will make it through. I am only going out to make a run to the store for something and come right back. No restaurants, no coffee out, nothing. Still, it doesn’t have to be bleak… start thinking about what you can do while staying at home… some suggestions:
- Read a good book (I’m reading Elin Hilderbrand right now ❤️)
- Start a blog
- Work in the yard
- Plant a garden
- Paint a fence (or house or??)
- Organize your dresser drawers
- Clean a closet
- Go through recipe files (or is that just me?)
- CLEAN OUT YOUR PHOTOS 🙋♀️
- Teach your dog a new trick
- Go through that stack of magazines
- Clean out the refrigerator and freezer
- Do yoga stretches
- Get some exercise!
- Call a friend
- Call and check on a neighbor before you make a store run, see if you can pick them up something and leave it on their door step
- Sit in the sun
- Get outside!
I read an article about a man and his brother who bought up 17,700 bottles of hand sanitizer. 😳I forget where they were from, but once cases of Coronavirus headed their way they thought it was a good time to hit every single store no matter how big or small and buy all of the supplies that we are all TRYING to buy (Clorox Wipes, Hand Sanitizer, Cough & Cold Meds, etc.) – (He even bought up all the N95 masks that hospitals and medical personnel need to keep safe – that’s a crime in my book – the overwhelming vast majority of us should NOT be purchasing masks, let alone in bulk) then he listed his goods on Amazon with an astronomical price and Amazon dropped him. He turned to Ebay, and they did the same 🙌 – The story ended with him having nowhere to sell his goods (he had so much it was in a storage unit!) – I think because the article was published he ended up donating everything that he hoarded. #dontbethatguy #betheoppositeofthatguy
Younger people are less at risk, HOWEVER, it does not mean that it’s safe for them to gather in groups because they can still test positive and be less sick or even asymptomatic, yet pass it along to others. MANY OTHERS. SO many others that it overwhelms our healthcare system. And THAT would be detrimental! *UPDATE: the latest static’s from Italy show the main age group is from 20-54 years old, so please don’t think because you’re young you cannot get this vicious virus.
This Coronavirus IS worrisome, but we cannot let it consume us. We have to put things into perspective and just hope (and pray) that all will be well. Sleep, eat well, rest, exercise and be prepared with cough and cold meds, thermometer, soup, crackers, water or Gatorade type drink, tea, etc.
FLATTEN THE CURVE!
By now I’m sure you’ve heard the term many times, if you’re unsure what it means THIS is a great explanation with a graphic from the Washington Post. Basically it means if we do our part to keep ourselves away from others (STAY HOME!), wash our hands for 20 seconds (a FULL 20 seconds), avoid touching our faces, etc. then we can help to prevent a spike in cases to the point that the healthcare system is overloaded. THAT would be a nightmare scenario which is why we all have to pay attention.
DO YOUR PART. Stay home. Stay away from others 3-6 feet or more. WASH your hands, disinfect your phone, counters, and every surface that has been touched.
Then, grab a chair and go sit in the sunshine… 🌞☀️ As I keep reading, we’re all in this together!
🙋♀️Until next time – No hugs, no handshakes, but I can still wave!
