We are fortunate to live in an area surrounded by Live oak trees. They were planted when these homes were built (mostly in the 1930’s). One in the front yard and one in the back (of most). Visually, they make a stunning streetscape as their limbs have grown together over the years. The Spanish moss hangs, swaying in the breeze. The Resurrection fern grows, changing from bright green (with rain) to crumbled brown (no rain) and back to bright green again.
Trees are so important to an area’s character. The thought of losing any of these trees is unconscionable – however, with everything in life, sometimes it happens. We live in an area with a strong neighborhood associations (different from an HOA), who shares the voice of the neighborhood with the city and officials so that the neighborhood’s voice can be heard. It’s a tireless job, but so important if a neighborhood is to stay as wonderful as it is. It’s part of what keeps this area so nice.
What element do you love about where you live? What makes it feel special and most “like home” to you?
👩💻 Until next time… Happy Saturday, I LOVE October – the sun, the skies, stunning! 🍁
