This Man – And Our Story…

Fred and I met 33 years ago today. Thirty. Three. Years. Ago. I remember it like yesterday. It seems so long ago, but in another way I can remember it so clearly. Like many of you, we have a cool story. But to make a long story short…

I was dog sitting for a friend. I pulled up as they were getting ready to head out of town. She sprung on me the fact that they just adopted a puppy (in addition to the older dog I thought I was sitting) – “the puppy doesn’t even know how to walk on a leash yet“. Ok… I watched this snazzy man drive past and smile. He pulled into his driveway a few houses down and went in his house. A few minutes later he reappeared. Come on dog, we’re going for a walk… the puppy walked beautifully right up to his feet as he stood in his driveway. The rest is history… that Sunday was Easter. I opened the front door to go out to pick up the newspaper. There was a beautiful gift bag on the door. Awwww, someone left my friend a sweet gift. I set it on the table, went out and picked up the newspaper. Once I walked past the gift bag I thought… WHAT IF? What if the gift bag IS for me! I reached in to see if there was a card. There was. Heart pounding, I pulled it out of the bag. BARBARA – written clear as a bell!

THIS IS FOR ME! 💃

We chatted over the weekend and he invited me into his (beautiful) house. Everything was so nice. He was so sweet. We went on a date – a tour of historic homes in Summerville, SC. The rest is history! I knew he was “the one” the moment I met him. Not “a one” but THE one… this kind, sweet, gorgeous, lovable man I am so fortunate to call my husband.

I always knew it was the Thursday before Easter that we met. But recently went through the calendar on my phone to find the exact date. April 12. How cool! I am so thankful for this day!

As for the puppy never walking on a leash – that was true, although he walked beautifully up to his feet, the return was nowhere near as slick. He had to be carried home, haha. I’m so glad I listened to my gut and headed to meet the man of my dreams. Turns out he ran inside his house, quick changed to “go for a jog” – but it was taking me a while to get there so he tied/untied his shoes waiting for us to happen to run into each other at the perfect time.

So if you’re looking for your prince charming/love of your life – listen to your gut. #whatisyourstory?

🌸 Wishes for a beautiful life…
