The Walterboro Avenue House Plan by Our Town Plans for Southern Living.

A beautiful home isn’t it? We see many homes similar to this in Charleston, SC. Beautiful. With large porches to accommodate a variety of seating configurations so time on the porch is well spent and comfortable. Oh, so comfortable! Grab an iced tea and swing on the porch, read a book, take a nap – life is good! This is a great plan to fit in many established neighborhoods and blend in nicely.

This is the Walterboro Avenue House Plan by Our Town Plans (SL1798). This plan is 3,374 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. What a beauty it is, let’s take a peek…

Entry is via the stunning front porch. When you enter this plan you face the beautiful stairway with a library (✨swoon✨) on your right and a dining room on your left. Walk towards the back down a beautiful center hall (which provides a site line from the front to the back of this plan, which I LOVE!) – On the left side of this plan is the kitchen and keeping room (complete with fireplace, can you imagine how cozy it must be?), in the center at the back is the family room, tucked away nicely and the back right is the primary bedroom suite. What’s so lovely is that if you see a change you would like it can be done, so no worries there! For me, I’m not big on a large bathroom, so I might shrink it down a bit, one sink is plenty, a toilet and a nice shower. Since there is a bathtub upstairs (and I wouldn’t use it) I would remove it from the primary suite. I would use the extra space to enlarge the closet and to maybe make the closet a separate room entering not via the bathroom. Then again, I would be perfectly happy with this plan just how it is.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms each with a full bathroom. Here I might see if there is a way to share a bath and add more closet space and maybe a linen closet. Like I said above – I would be perfectly happy with it just the way it is!

My thoughts keep going back to the library – I would make it cozy, painted a dark color or better yet, have pecky cypress walls with beautiful (and efficient) lighting that can dim for ambiance. Bookshelves filled with books – one wall that I’ve read and another TBR (to be read). A few cozy chairs upholstered in a beautiful wool plaid from England or a stunning pattern I ran across that would look GORGEOUS with cypress walls, an antique pine table, coffee station, and soft music playing overhead… #yeplifeisgood
