Discover the Beauty of Charleston, SC Marsh Scenes!

marsh grass with blue sky and puffy clouds

Did you know that South Carolina has the most salt marshes on the East coast? A good bit of those marshes are located right here in Charleston County! It’s true! I love how they change with the seasons – and on days with clouds like this it’s absolutely stunning!

Whether you live in Charleston or are visiting, you must find your way to one of the many marshes. To sit quietly and be immersed in the beauty and natural habitat is calming. It’s one of the many things that makes Charleston so special.

A few special places we like to visit: Botany Bay (Edisto, SC) and Kiawah Island (Kiawah Island, SC).

BOTANY BAY is a location we look forward to visiting. It always seems to be a bit different based on time of year and weather. You can ride through in your car, or walk part of it. There is also a beach that you can visit (except at high tide).

Also, if you’re in the area, KIAWAH ISLAND is beautiful (and about 55% marsh!) – like Botany Bay, you have both marsh and beach to explore.

I can get lost in the sky, in the shadows from the clouds on the marsh grasses. So beautiful. This is Charleston! We also have marsh near us (Intracoastal Waterway, a short walk away). It’s refreshing to take in the peace of it all. The swaying of the grass with the wind is a blessing. The solitude is restorative. Also, if you love to take photos – it’s hard to beat these two locations! 😉

Enjoy your Saturday.

👩‍💻 Until next time…
