Making a great salad can be an art. They can be a lot of work, but it’s so worth it, don’t you think?
Start with quality ingredients and you’re sure to have a good salad. If I have a heavier dressing (i.e. bleu cheese) then I use crunchy lettuce like romaine. That’s a favorite of ours. I like Organic Girl lettuce. Truly, I need to buy another salad spinner, and buy/wash the greens.
My usual additions to this salad are celery, carrots, radishes, oven roasted turkey (from the deli – it’s just like a roasted turkey, not like lunch meat), and a little bit of cheddar is a nice compliment.
If I have a viniagrette, then I like any kind of more delicate lettuce like leaf lettuce/red leaf lettuce/arugula/raddichio, etc. For that salad I will toss in tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, sometimes toasted walnuts, and a little feta.
A friend of ours made a fabulous salad with radicchio and that salad converted me from someone who didn’t care for radicchio to someone who loves it! See that recipe HERE!
Catch you back here tomorrow!
