Is there anything better than getting away to the mountains in the midst of jaw dropping beauty to reset yourself? Everyone needs to get to the mountains at some point. No need for a TV here, so much to watch, it’s ever changing. The clouds, the mountains, the fog, the plants/blooms and of course, the birds, rabbits, etc. The birds were a special treat this visit…
We’ve heard that the hummingbird feeders have historically been put out on 4/15 “Tax Day” at The Swag for decades now. This year was no different. The hummingbirds work so incredibly hard, then they jump down into the bushes and rest for a short time. Utterly amazing! There are some blooming plants but soon there will be an explosion of blooms for them to alternate for variety.
I spent longer than I will admit attempting to photograph the hummingbirds. It started out with one hummingbird, the next day two, the next day three – we’ve been here later in the season and the hummingbird feeders were full (and I do mean FULL) of hummingbirds. #puremagic
Watching the birds at the feeder (Eastern Towhee and Song Sparrow) and the hummingbirds at the other feeders (Ruby Throated Hummingbird – male shown above) we were wondering what types of birds we were watching. One of the nicest people ever (Mark) came over and told us about the Merlin Bird ID app (free), download it on your phone and it can listen for the birds and will (immediately) identify! I love this bird app. (Read about it via the link). It can also verify via photo or a description. Now that we aren’t in the mountains, it will be fun to turn the app on once in a while and see what’s making noise around this area!
Happy weekend!
🐦⬛ Until next time..

Such a cool app.
