Book Suggestion: HELLO STRANGER by Katherine Center!

HELLO STRANGER, book, by Katherine Center on an antique rug.

Another great book by Katherine Center. Her writing is like a breath of fresh air. Hectic day? No worries. Lots going on so hard to concentrate – you can still read this book. It’s light but deep enough that you stay immersed. The ending was brilliant! #didntseeitcoming This is a good one to add to your TBR list!

Here’s the summary for Hello Stranger on Goodreads.com:

Sadie Montgomery never saw what was coming . . . Literally! One minute she’s celebrating the biggest achievement of her life—placing as a finalist in the North American Portrait Society competition—the next, she’s lying in a hospital bed diagnosed with a “probably temporary” condition known as face blindness. She can see, but every face she looks at is now a jumbled puzzle of disconnected features. Imagine trying to read a book upside down and in another language. This is Sadie’s new reality with every face she sees.

But, as she struggles to cope, hang on to her artistic dream, work through major family issues, and take care of her beloved dog, Peanut, she falls into—love? Lust? A temporary obsession to distract from the real problems in her life?—with not one man but two very different ones. The timing couldn’t be worse.

If only her life were a little more in focus, Sadie might be able to find her way. But perceiving anything clearly right now seems impossible. Even though there are things we can only find when we aren’t looking. And there are people who show up when we least expect them. And there are always, always other ways of seeing.

My review on Goodreads:

Hello Stranger by Katherine Center – 5 Stars! “This love story really created a fantastic feeling of anticipation.” It. Did! If you haven’t read a book by Katherine Center, I highly recommend. If you like a good book, (that is a page turner), with great characters, learning something new (about a condition called prosopagnosia), love, problem solving (evil step sister and more) and a BRILLIANT ending (that I didn’t see coming), this book is for you. The Epilogue, brilliant. The Author’s Note (also brilliant) is so, so, so good. It explains romance novels to perfection, and what makes them so popular. Like the quote from the Author’s Note, Hello Stranger really was a story that created a fantastic feeling of anticipation, without having any idea how this book would end – you keep thinking it’ll end this way or that way. The end was a surprise to me. #perfection Can’t wait to start another of Katherine’s books!

Learning a bit about prosopagnosia was pretty interesting. On her website she has several (famous) faces shown upside down. Can you recognize them? I didn’t recognize a single one. I guess that’s a similar feel to prosopagnosia (not quite, her book explains it much better) but the exercise with upside down faces gave you an idea.

📚 So what are YOU reading? Until next time…
