The other night we were turning off lights and heading to bed when something caught my eye. The moon. Striking! I took a photo, looked to see if it was how I saw it. Red ring around the moon, let me try again. Took it again, same thing then I looked out of the window and there it was, a red ring around the moon! This is what it’s about…
(From Google/multiple sources, but not from me):
“On June 27, 2026, the near-Full Moon passed extremely close to Antares, a glowing red supergiant star. This visual pairing and the warm hue cast by Antares likely caused it to appear like a vibrant “red ring” or fiery companion right next to the Moon.”
“Because Antares has a deep orange-red color and sits near the heart of the Scorpius constellation, it is historically called the “rival to Mars”. When viewed near the bright Moon, the strong color contrast can be striking to the naked eye.”
How cool to have seen it – this photo doesn’t do it justice, but you get the gist. I love to read about things like this when I see them. This is a marvelous world/universe, isn’t it? #marvelatthelittlethings #theyreoftenthebigthings
🌝 Until next time…
✨ Take a moment to be grateful for at least one thing today – TODAY will be a good day, you’ve got this!
