A Peek At The Beautiful Things in Life!

vintage earn, red berries, fence with roping for the holidays

Happy Wednesday! Where does the time go? It seems like it was just Halloween! Thanksgiving flew by and now Christmas is very, very close! For many of us there is so much to do to prepare. It’s good to start early, which I used to be good at, but now am running behind like most of you. It’s all good, we can only try to get everything on our lists done, right? Wondering what cool place I was at with such a beautiful view (in the image) – see below…

Botany Bay (Edisto, SC)…

Botany Bay in the Fall...
Botany Bay in the Fall…

Just look at that cool line of fog/mist on the water, pretty amazing isn’t it? I captured this while we were moving… spectacular shot!

Well, almost a spectacular shot… the line of fog/mist turned out to be the window that was rolled down… darn it!

The stillness, reflections and just pure beauty of that place amazes me! This was taken at Botany Bay, a gorgeous place to visit if you ever get the chance, it’s located near Edisto, SC.

Another short post… back to normal on Friday!

Monhegan… ah… am I ever going to stop posting photos? Well, I just had to, we have some friends who are there this week, next week and the following week! I can’t wait to see their photos! I bet the weather will be perfect! This photo was taken (I think) when we hiked along trail 1… past Dead Man’s Cove and back up into the woods… it is M A G I C A L !  Some are there to paint, others to show family around a wonderful place they have yet to visit, and another who is going to read, relax, swim and hike! You always feel better once you’ve visited Monhegan, it gets your priorities back in place. Really!

A “bouquet” of flowers in the most unexpected place… that’s Monhegan for ya!

Monhegan, Maine

Walking around Monhegan you run across the most unexpected beautiful sights… butterflies everywhere, gorgeous sunsets, happy flowers, the sea and a bouquet every now and then appearing in a spot you just wouldn’t think to see one. It puts a smile on my face every single time.

Island Sunset… Monhegan, ME.

Monhegan Sunset
Monhegan Sunset

Ahhhh, about this time every year I really get “home sick” (if you can call it that… since I’ve never lived there) for Monhegan. There is nothing like a Monhegan sunset! I would love to catch a sunrise, I’m definitely up early enough, I just haven’t been able to give up my coffee… yet! This photo was taken during dinner at the Island Inn (and I am longing for good fish dinner from that restaurant… the best ever!), I had to excuse myself during dinner to run outside and get a quick shot. How stunning is this?

Ahhh, see you just went on a mini vacation… you feel better already, don’t you? I know I do!

Charleston Photo: The Beach at Botany Bay…

Botany Bay Beach

Have you been to Botany Bay (near Edisto, SC)? I could not believe that we just made it there a few weeks ago, and I’ve lived here over twenty years! We will be going back!

The beach is so dramatic… you park your car and walk out on a boardwalk to the beach. You cannot take the shells ($470 fine) and you don’t want to take the shells. The unspoiled beach is just too pretty to change a single thing!

So if you’re looking for a road trip… hightail it to Botany Bay!

Back to regular posting tomorrow!

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood…

Have A Beautiful Day!

I swear spring has sprung! We’re supposed to have mid to upper 70 degree temps today, crazy for JANUARY! Did I say January!? Get out and enjoy the beauty, it’s all around you!

This photo was taken last May… a peony… my absolute all time FAVORITE flower! Their simply elegant beauty is stunning! We can’t grow them here in Charleston, SC, but Harris Teeter carries them, thank goodness!

Simple beauty!

Orchid

Sometimes the most simple things are also the most beautiful. I received an orchid from a neighbor a while back and I’m happy to say that it’s still alive and doing great! I read about how to care for it, and really didn’t think it would make it past week two.

I’ve done good… no overwatering, it’s happy where its at and it’s rewarding me by being the most beautiful elegant orchid ever!

Now with Christmas and holidays behind you, are you looking forward to New Year’s Eve? The beginning of a New Year is soon to come… rest up!

Purity… you just may not have found the right one yet…

Philosophy PURITY MADE SIMPLE

Image: Nordstrom

If you don’t absolutely LOVE your facial cleanser have I got news for you! A while back I bought the small sample size cleanser by Philosophy called PURITY. I had read a lot of great things about it, it consistently got 4.5-5 stars on every site I checked. How could that many people be wrong? They weren’t, and that’s why I’m a big fan of researching things before I buy. I read the reviews and if they seem pretty consistent I’ll give it a shot, and am I glad I ever did!

Here’s a blip about the cleanser from the Philosophy website:

our award-winning daily facial skin cleanser is formulated to gently cleanse, tone and melt away all face and eye makeup in one simple step, while lightly hydrating the skin.

features & benefits

  • deep cleans pores and eliminates makeup build-up
  • natural oil extracts help condition skin
  • fragrance-free formula

I have to agree, it removes makeup effortlessly and when you’re done your face doesn’t feel tight or dry. It’s perfect! It says fragrance free formula, but there are natural oil extracts that have a clean fresh smell that I absolutely love. Also… you only need a small amount, so it will last a while! Share this with anyone you know of who may not be too happy with their current product. This stuff is awesome. If you don’t have a store close by, you can order from Nordstrom.com and it’s FREE shipping… you just can’t beat that!
