A few weeks ago we stopped for lunch at a favorite place and afterwards took a little walk around town. What a delight when we spotted a cool home store. They had the most delightful items, treasures! Furniture, lighting, candles, virtually anything that can make a house a home. Beautifully displayed, it was a treat to meander through the store. We look forward to getting back there soon. I love their vibe!

In search of the perfect wall light…
Industrial Sconce by Urban Outfitters
We’ve been searching high and low for the perfect little wall light for our sunroom. The walls are exposed brick, so hardwiring isn’t the best option, we are looking for a plug in wall light. I’ve found several pretty cool ones, all price ranges. The sconce above is an affordable $49 from Urban Outfitters. I like the cool look of the cord. It comes in white and what looks like stainless… I’m thinking about the white right now…
Modern Swing Arm Wall Sconce from the Rhine Collection – Image: LightingDirect.com
The Modern Swing Arm Wall Sconce offers a contemporary twist to a typical reading light… very chic for only $103!
Swing Arm Wall Lamp by Circa Lighting – Image: CircaLighting.com
You can never go wrong with the lighting at Circa. They have the most gorgeous options! We’re fortunate to live near a Circa Lighting in Charleston, SC, but if you don’t then you’ll be happy to know that they ship… for FREE! The Swing Arm Wall Lamp by Circa Lighting is a classic style with a contemporary edge to it. I like that it has a dimmer so you can leave it on for ambient lighting… and turn it up for task lighting, so you can see what you’re reading!
COUNTERPOISE SWING-ARM WALL SCONCE BRONZE – Image – Restoration Hardware
The Counterpoise Swing-Arm Wall Sconce is another classy option from Restoration Hardware. Classy lighting at this place, and this is no exception. My concern for where I want to put it is that I will hit my head on it when I get up? Hmmm, a consideration!
Tolomeo Micro Wall Lamp by Artemide – Image: Lumens.com
Fred and I have long admired the Tolomeo lighting collection, especially the micro wall lamp. Very cool on either side of a bed, but hmmmm, might be neat in the sunroom as well?!

Circa Lighting… the Reed Hanging Light… a gorgeous addition to the room!
Isn’t this a gorgeous light? We have fought with ourselves over which chandelier to use for, well… years. So until we could make up our minds for sure we hung a ceiling fan which served its purpose in the interim. The Reed Hanging Light is one classy light, simple and elegant, not fussy in design. We ordered the hand rubbed antique brass finish with the natural paper shade which we LOVE. There is nothing like a shade from Circa Lighting. It gives off the most eloquent warm light. It makes every room look positively radiant! There is a diffuser on this fixture so you aren’t blinded by bright light. We also have it on a dimmer so it can be as bright or as romantic as you would like… If you’re searching for a fantastic light fixture, check this one out! Our house is an older house (1930’s), our furniture is a mix of antiques (mostly pine), and new (mostly slipcovered) furniture. So we have an updated look, with more modern lighting. This was perfect. Remember, you can always order from Circa Lighting online. If you’re in the Charleston, SC area stop in and see Matthew McLaughlin, the manager. He’s a very cool dude who knows EVERYTHING about lighting. Remember, you can order online and it’s FREE SHIPPING (in most cases), and you only pay tax if you’re located in one of the three states they’re in (SC, GA and TX). Lots of good reasons to order from Circa Lighting! Nice to know you don’t have to be near a store to take advantage of their beautiful lighting!

One sexy saucer…
And you thought a saucer couldn’t be sexy? Ha. Look at the lines of this Nelson Saucer Pendant Lamp. It’s a beauty. We’ve had one for years now, and it’s been moved from dining room, to dining room (ok, so we have a furniture moving around problem… ) and now it happily resides in the kitchen. Where it makes a nice quiet statement. It says… WE. AREN’T. OLD. YET.
Classy lighting… Circa…
One thing that can make or break a room is good lighting… Just my opinion. If you have nothing but bright light it gives the room a cold sterile feeling, if all the lighting is dim, it looks pretty at night but its difficult to see. All overhead lighting isn’t my thing, but if the light is on a dimmer it can work. We don’t have a huge house. We don’t have a table near every chair. We have lots of places to sit, but you can’t see well enough to read, knit, etc. in every seat. We think we’ve found a solution… Remember (well, maybe you don’t but I DO), those tension floor lamps that went to the ceiling, with lights hanging off of it? You could turn on one or all one, I think back in the 1960’s (wow, sounds like I came over on the Mayflower, doesn’t it?) ours had three lights. They’ve made a comeback (or perhaps they never left?), in a new sleek style. This image is of the ZIYI TENSION POLE LAMP. We are fortunate to have a Circa Lighting in Charleston! We can walk in and touch and feel and actually SEE what the lighting looks like and whether or not it would work at our house. This is on our list one day. Not sure where we would put it, so far we have many possibilities…
