Look at this incredible light on the horizon! It looks like a painting by…
Gorgeous, right? I saw this and flipped… CAMERA! WHERE. IS. MY. CAMERA?!!! This is the sun setting from behind the house which throws the most gorgeous warm light on the island across the river. STUNNING golden light that makes everything look absolutely spectacular! Look at the brilliance of those trees in the foreground! As soon as I saw this I thought… MARC HANSON! A fabulously talented artist from Colorado. His paintings mesmerize me. I cannot believe how he can turn out one after another and each is as awesome as the next. These trees are MARC HANSON TREE’S! I swear they are! Check out his work if you get a chance, I have no doubt you’ll agree with me! Nice guy, and he has so much talent!

Ocean House Hotel, Port Clyde, Maine… beautiful light!
Look at that beautiful light! The colors and textures in this photo are reminiscent (to me) of an Andrew Wyeth painting… the light is magnificent. This photo was taken from the top floor of the Ocean House Hotel, the back screen door… on our way to a fabulous breakfast! If you’re ever in Port Clyde and need a place to rest your head, the Ocean House Hotel is a neat place with a wonderful breakfast!

A nice peacefully quiet Monhegan Island wharf…
For those of you who have been to Monhegan Island, I don’t need to remind you of it’s quiet beauty. It is an island that clearly represents nature at its finest. The birds, butterflies, goats (Manana Island), and assorted other wild life keeps things interesting. This wharf is an amazing place where hard working people come together to get what needs to be done… DONE. It’s a place where most of us visit and a few of us are fortunate enough (or brave enough) to live year around. It’s a different kind of life. I would imagine the weather dictates to a large degree what can happen and when. Rough weather = rough seas = no boat to the mainland. These islanders have got to be well organized. They live in a gorgeous location, that they have mostly to themselves this time of year. They put up with us during the summer months but are quite happy when Columbus Day has come and gone and they get their island back.
Can’t say that I blame them…
Hey, reminder… did you set your clock back one hour last night? Daylight Saving Time ended in many parts of the country (only Arizona and Hawaii don’t observe Daylight Saving Time) at 2AM … Catch you back here tomorrow!
Now, this is one door to open…!
This is the front door to the Marston House. A wonderful antique shop located in Wiscasset, Maine. My husband and I stayed a few nights in the carriage house located behind this house. That will be a future post, suffice it to say, it was THE. BEST. TIME. EVER! Sharon and Paul who own the Marston House are fascinating people, very cool and so interesting to talk to! Like I said, more coming soon…

Isn’t she a beauty?! We usually catch this boat when we leave Monhegan. It gets to the wharf and unloads cargo, you name it, mail, wood, furniture, lots of lobster traps. They have such an efficient system down on the wharf. Then we all pile on and head to the mainland, in this case, Port Cldye, Maine. It’s a wonderful ride when the seas aren’t rough. Once in a while you get the route that takes you by Allen Island, where Betsy Wyeth lives (Artist Andrew Wyeth’s wife). It’s a beautiful place… photos coming soon!

Weekend Photo: Sometimes it’s the little things…
When I saw this pallet sitting on the wharf in Port Clyde, Maine, I had to snap a photo… the way the sun hit it so nicely. Sometimes its the little things that can make you smile! We’re all so busy and it’s easy to take for granted the little things in life… make an effort to notice at least one thing every day, something small and insignificant, but something that makes you smile! Have a great weekend!

A pretty flower and a happy day to you!
Not sure what this flower is called… but it sure is pretty… it’s always a great time to get out and take some photos! Even if it’s raining, snowing, sleeting or hailing. I love to find unexpected treasures… mainly light and shadows, but hey, you’ve got to work with what you’ve got at the time, right? I love how the flower stands up against the blurred green background… it makes it quite stately (in a weather-beaten sort of way, ha ha) don’t you think?
Remember… tomorrow is a holiday for many folks, if you’re one of them… ENJOY! Time to get out and ride a bike, take a walk, read a good book (just finished an old Nora Roberts book THE SEARCH… holy cow! It was a page turner!).

Majestic Crape Myrtle’s in Charleston, SC
You don’t normally think of a crape myrtle tree as being “majestic”, but I would say these big old crape myrtles are pretty impressive! Their trunks are so interesting, the bark is such a beautiful color, almost the same as the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco! Hmmm, might be nice to color match, ha ha… wonder if the Benjamin Moore folks will come to a location and color match, ha ha…

Charleston Photo: Gorgeous Old Building, Used To Be Saracen Restaurant
This building has always been a stunner. Look at the detail! This is the perfect example of exquisite architecture, back when they built buildings to look gorgeous and to last for generations! A restaurant used to fill this space, it was called SARACEN. We never made it to that restaurant, but it was always on our list. I hope one day soon this place gets renovated and turned back into a happening building!

Charleston, SC Photo: From a different perspective…
I love a different angle on things. This photo was taken looking up at the gorgeous windows of a beautiful home in Charleston, SC. When you walk around the streets of Charleston there is SO MUCH to look at. If you’re anything like me you can’t help but snap away! I’m so thankful for my digital camera! Remember taking photos in the “old days”? In addition to buying a battery, you had to buy film, then you had to take the film in to be processed and have prints made. It always seemed like the ones you were really looking forward to turning out were the ones that weren’t quite right… eyes closed, mouths open, etc. So woot woot for the inventor of the digital camera! Now I can snap away, come home and load them on my computer and delete the ones that aren’t stunning!
Speaking of cameras… if you’ve got a good camera, tell me about it… I currently have a Kodak Z something or other, what do you have? Why do you like it so much? What are its limitations? How have you adapted to no view finder? (I don’t think I could, I really like a view finder)… Is it worth getting one that you can set manually to manipulate how you like or is point and shoot the way to go? Is it a pain to have a camera where you have to switch lenses? I would think so? What’s the thinnest, sharpest, camera with a viewfinder with at least a 10x zoom? Here’s a photo of St. Phillips Episcopal Church (founded in 1680!) located in downtown Charleston, SC. It’s a gorgeous church, one that has been photographed and painted oh so many times. It’s in the heart of the city, near the market and all the other happening locations.
