Monhegan, Maine – Safe Travels!!

We were hoping to get to Maine this year, but got busy with a few other things so decided to stay put. The gang is leaving Monhegan this morning. It’s not a fun day. You get used to the peace and quiet and to leave that (and the ocean views) as well as friends who are like family is tough. Friday tends to be a quieter, more somber time.

I think this photo is so apropos for today. When you leave the island, if someone gives you flowers you’re supposed to toss them in the water once the boat departs. If the flowers float back towards the Island, that means you’ll be back again. So for our friends who are there now, I’m picking you flowers, pretend to toss them and I promise, they will make it to shore 🙂
