I took this photo several years ago. Just look at this mesmerizing live oak tree. Its limbs reaching as if to borrow a cup of sugar from a neighboring tree. So much history. It’s astounding if you think about it. What has this tree seen and heard in its lifetime? I love the far-reaching branches, the view, and the sunlight dappling the scene nicely…

I know I’ve mentioned it before… but, if you haven’t made your way to Botany Bay you don’t know what you’re missing! It’s like traveling back in time. There is a short, but beautiful walk you can take to the beach. You aren’t allowed to take shells (big fine), which is actually kind of nice because you see what a beach would look like if no one were to mess with it. It’s awe inspiring! This day just happened to rain while we were walking to the beach, but you can see the clear sky peaking through the clouds!

Just look at that cool line of fog/mist on the water, pretty amazing isn’t it? I captured this while we were moving… spectacular shot!
Well, almost a spectacular shot… the line of fog/mist turned out to be the window that was rolled down… darn it!
The stillness, reflections and just pure beauty of that place amazes me! This was taken at Botany Bay, a gorgeous place to visit if you ever get the chance, it’s located near Edisto, SC.

I have mentioned in past posts a fabulous place called Botany Bay. The light that filters through the trees is incredible. Every inch of that place is stunning. It appears untouched. The beach is beautiful, the entire area looks like you’ve stepped back in time. This is a photo of our lunch spot. We brought a picnic, opened up the back of the car and sat, ate, listened to the birds, the wind in the trees… wow… Let’s not tell too many people about this place, ok? Keep it to yourself! Have a great weekend!

Have you been to Botany Bay (near Edisto, SC)? I could not believe that we just made it there a few weeks ago, and I’ve lived here over twenty years! We will be going back!
The beach is so dramatic… you park your car and walk out on a boardwalk to the beach. You cannot take the shells ($470 fine) and you don’t want to take the shells. The unspoiled beach is just too pretty to change a single thing!
So if you’re looking for a road trip… hightail it to Botany Bay!

Not the best shot here… Fred and I were walking on the beach at Botany Bay (Edisto, SC) and we saw footprints… not dog (not allowed on the beach), I’m guessing deer? Kind of V shaped? As we meandered down the path (not near the beach) two deer flew in front of us… they were on a mission, or maybe they were playing tag, who knows… they looked happy! What a cool place to live, where you know you’re secure and protected!

Fred and I headed to Botany Bay (Edisto, SC).For those of you who haven’t been… I would add it to my list of places to see… it is preserved land that is full of wildlife, beautiful birds, deer, (snakes, spiders and alligators as well)… It’s like going back in time. I cannot believe we just made our first trip there… it certainly won’t be our last! We opened the back of my car, sat on the bumper and ate sandwiches, listening to the sounds… the birds, the wind blowing the trees… it was heaven!
A peaceful photo from the beach. I could have stayed there all day…
