This is a shot I took trying to see where the water level was at in relation to the seawall. Note the beautiful color of the water. WHOA!
On a recent visit to Michigan, on the St. Clair River, I saw how the water has risen. There is a canal near my parents home that was nearly dried up a few years ago. This year it’s over the seawall. It’s hard to fathom that kind of water. What’s even harder to fathom is how when you see homes that are flooding (Harsen’s Island and other nearby areas), and people are putting out sandbags in an effort to save their homes, you have someone in a big boat go by full speed causing a major wake, thereby flooding these homes.
Homes near water are more vulnerable to flooding. This is something that we all know. However, when it’s caused by neglect (fast boat that is too close in a no wake zone) it’s really heartbreaking. In a few days the water rose over 4 inches. That’s frightening!
This is just the beginning of boating season as it’s been pretty chilly most days. Hopefully by the time boats are out in force they will be enforcing the rules. #gogetem
Please if you’re in a boat and in this area (or any area in a similar circumstance)… abide by the NO WAKE ZONES.
Catch you back here tomorrow!
