Fresh flowers… a necessity!

ArtFoodHome.com

I love these lilies… they smell so wonderful. I can grab a bundle when I’m at the grocery store, they last a full week or longer and are problem free.

I remember a gallery in town used to always have big bunches of these, and when you walked into the gallery, WOW! The scent was amazing!

Taking a few days off, posting a week of photos – back to normal posting next week!

Embrace the cloudy days…

Tree of Life

I saw this tree a month or so ago and it stopped me in my tracks. I quickly grabbed my phone and snapped a photo. I walked out of a neat little design shop (Elizabeth Stuart Design or ESD as we call it), and walking back to the car saw this tree in the parking lot. It was the wild sky and the bright sun that made it stand out.

This tree makes me think of how strong people are when they need to be. When the wind is whipping, the sky is gray and life has problems or uncertainty remember…

The sun is soon to follow.

Let the sun warm you and make you smile. Soon things will turn around, there will be leaves on the trees, more sun in the sky and life will feel better…

Embrace the cloudy days, for they make the sunny days that much more special.

Mackinac Island Trail – Can you hear the silence?

Mackinac Island Trail – Michigan

Have you ever been in such silence that you can hear it? Most of us are in areas with noise, a lot of noise. From traffic to assorted yard tools the sounds are endless. When you get away to someplace wonderful like Mackinac Island and you bike and hike, if you get into the woods it’s the most wonderful silence. It’s just heavenly!

Who knew silence could be so loud, ha ha!

A heartfelt thought on this winter day…

This bird is happy and free… the light from the sun is magnificent, leading you to another place and time.

This post is in honor of Randy Locke, a wonderful man who is loved by many.

I wish I had the opportunity to know him.

Godspeed. ❤️

Thinking of his family and friends, may they always feel Randy’s presence in their lives. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Have a peaceful weekend…

The year before we discovered Maine…

San Fran 2005

I like photos that don’t show an entire scene. One that shows a cool element of a location. This photo was taken in San Francisco in 2005, TYBWDM. (The year before we discovered Maine). We haven’t been back. We had gone to San Fran in 2003 – 2005, then thought lets switch between east coast and west coast. So we headed to Maine and that was the end of that!

I love this cool window with the fire escape. San Fran is a great city, so much to do and see, and the weather… wow!

Cathedral of St. John the Baptist - from the back

Rear view of church

This is such a stunning Catholic church. The inside commands attention. It is full of history. The architecture is so beautiful. This is a photo from the BACK of the church. Just look at that golden light! Stunning.

The history is fascinating, for example, the church originally cost $103,00 to build… in the early 1850’s! Read more about this church’s history
