Peaceful, huh? The fog rolled in, and suddenly the beautiful view on the St. Clair River (in Michigan) was g-o-n-e ! But not for long. Fog is like that, which is amazing to watch. We really noticed it when we were in Maine the first time. Sitting by the harbor having dinner outside with another island in full view, suddenly *POOF* the island was gone, then the water was gone and all you saw was fog. Sudden.
I love weather, so I’m always happy when there is something different (anything!)… weather that stays the same gets boring ;)

Twenty one years ago today I said “I do” to the sweetest man on Earth, my husband, Fred Stroud. I remember that day well! We were so excited to get married, we didn’t want to wait for an evening wedding… we were married at noon on a hot August day. We had a beautiful wedding in Summerville, SC – we left the reception on the way to the John Rutledge House Inn (Charleston, SC). It was such a treat to spend the first (luxurious) night in Charleston!

Spending time with my husband and family at the most beautiful inn was such a treat! As was the breakfast the next morning… we had slept through it and there was a knock at our door, they brought us breakfast in bed… it was scrumptious and so beautifully delivered. Something I’ll never forget!
John Rutledge House Inn Suite [image]I swear, if this isn’t our room it was one very similar… When the bellman was showing us the room, he told us to “feel free to walk around the hotel and enjoy the beautiful art work, such as the piece above the mantel“… it was a piece that my dad had painted!!! He snuck down early that day and asked them to hang the painting… what a wonderful gift! Here is a photo of it… it’s not a good one… reflections make this a tough one to take a photo of… so disregard the reflections, and the fact that I had to crop off the frame, this is a watercolor by my dad, Joe Fidler… (frame cropped to get it somewhat square, sigh…).

From the moment I met Fred I KNEW he was the one. There was something about him. We clicked. Is it cliche to say that we’re soul mates? Well, we are, I can’t think of any other word to describe it. He is an amazing man, and I pray that I am as wonderful a wife as he is a husband. Something tells me I got the “lucky end of the stick”… ha ha…

Pretty cool isn’t it? This was done by my dad, Joe Fidler. I love sketches that have some ink and watercolor thrown in to jazz them up! Years ago I gave him a sketchbook for Christmas, he filled it full of wonderful sketches and gave it back to me. PRICELESS! I featured my dad last year with a few more images… he needs a website I think, ha ha… Personally I think he should make cards, they’re just so special! What a neat keepsake from different places you’ve traveled to! Everyone has photos, but how many people have a sketchbook filled with great memories? There’s no limit to what this man can do. He’s so creative and I love that about him! He’s always creating… watercolor, oil, sketch books filled with wonderful creations, beautiful ornaments made out of wood… I remember when we were young he made wine, polished rocks and had a dark room in the basement where he would develop the best photos ever!
This photo (below) was when my mom and dad had just boarded the boat and were leaving Monhegan Island after a visit. I’ll never forget that year. We had a great time and they were heading back… I think that’s the time they saw the whale on the way back to Port Clyde, that’s not something you easily forget!
I just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!You’re the best! I love you so much and hope you have the best birthday ever!
