Well, it’s that time of year again – time to switch the clocks ahead one hour (lose one hour of sleep) for Daylight Saving Time (DST) tonight. I’ve never been a big fan of switching back and forth. Studies show there are health implications – what are your thoughts?

Spring is Almost Here!

Can you believe that it’s almost spring? My husband and I had to run some errands yesterday, popped in Abide-A-While nursery in Mount Pleasant, SC. LOVELY gift items indoors, and the plants, trees, shrubs and flowers are over the top gorgeous. This orchid being a prime example – Wow!

Sometimes it’s nice to get away. When news gets to be a bit much we all handle it differently. We were walking one morning and I said to my husband, we should just hop in the car and head to…

We were heading back from Charlotte, NC yesterday and I saw “PEACE” painted on an overpass. How timely. Is there anything we should wish for more than this? Despite the heavy traffic the sentiment jumped out at me as something that is sorely needed (my opinion)… So thank you to whoever painted it, looks like it may have been there a while, but peace is always needed.

This is the morning view from a little shop we stopped in to grab a bite to eat after running a few errands. It seemed like a good day for a treat. While I was sitting at the table near the window I thought how grateful we are to be able to go on a weekday to a little place with a nice view and enjoy a little treat.

I took this photo one beautiful January evening. We were chasing a sunset, trying to make it to the boat landing where the view is stunning, before the sun set completely. It happens so fast! I love the color, the blurriness of the horizon and the crispness of the nearby, very interesting plant. Wow, Charleston is beautiful!

Happy Valentine’s Day to those of you who celebrate. For those of you who don’t celebrate, this is still a treat – so make it for yourself, your friends, your family. Enjoy!

Just in case you’ve gotten busy with life, tied up with the news, or if you had good intentions but you started doing something else in the meantime and went down the rabbit hole…

I’ve never planted lupine. I’ve never actually seen it blooming in Maine because we always used to visit in September (after they bloomed), but here it is in Charleston! Blooming beautifully and for sale. I love to visit shops with beautiful plants, we have several that I can think of and each is a dream!

We took a walk a few nights ago and the sunset was so striking. Not as easy to see for us with homes and large trees but you couldn’t miss the bright orange and the fiery yellow. You can tell by the power lines and streetlights that this is an older neighborhood. The outline of the trees makes this a striking image.

After a temp of 80℉ yesterday, and a beautiful (but a bit cooler) sunny day today, it’s definitely feeling like spring has sprung and WHO in this country doesn’t need that right now?

This photo was taken on Murray Blvd last week, overlooking the Ashley River in Charleston, SC. After days of being indoors this bright, sunny and warm day was fabulous. With temps hovering near 60℉ the shining sun sure felt good. We decided to take a walk on “The Battery” and it was so pleasant. Many people out walking, jogging, fishing. Quite a delight to feel the warm sun on your face.

This is a photo I took of my husband last month in North Carolina. We happened upon a deep snow event that was so fabulous. This is a cold day after some of it had melted. What a great time. I asked him where we’re going to visit next month to see snow? Haha… December/snow! January/snow! We’re on a roll. Time to get some boots, right?

SNOW DAY! I know this amount of snow isn’t much to many of you who live in climates that regularly receive snow in total amounts that far surpass the amount we’ve received in Charleston, SC (and are still receiving) – I’ve read the comments on many posts with snarky responses. #itsnotacontest
Continue reading “SNOW DAY!”Will you be seeing snow from the arctic blast?

I took this photo in early December while we were in the mountains of North Carolina for a wonderful stay. We arrived (no snow) to chilly temps and a weather advisory, possible snow, especially in the higher elevations. Well, we were pretty excited. We weren’t going to be driving anywhere for the next few days, so what better time to enjoy a major snowfall?
