The big snow of 2017 in Charleston, SC allowed us the opportunity to build this snowman. Of course I didn’t think about it until the snow was rapidly melting, so I was thrilled to get him put together and a photo taken. Continue reading “Make A Snowman Any Chance You Get!”→
Several years ago we bought a Christmas tree, set it up, decorated it and it was beautiful. Then Charlie, our Jack Russell terrier, jumped off of our bed and landed wrong… Continue reading “Joy for only $2.99?”→
We have purchased about 4,700 sample size containers of paint from Benjamin Moore. We want to be absolutely, positively sure on this color selection thing, because it’s a big deal. A bad color can break a room, while a great color can make it sing!
I posted this painting by Norman Rockwell many years ago. I just had to post it again, it’s a favorite. The family gathered, all smiling and laughing. The table set so pretty and an abundant amount of food.
This is what everyone’s Thanksgiving should be like. Inclusion. To be part of a loving family. So if you see that someone is left out. Whether they’re young or old, tall or short, green or purple, invite them over, or if they are unable, bring them a plate and stop to visit. Something that will take minimal effort could make someone’s day.
I recently read something written by a foster child, things that he wished for. It broke my heart. He wished for wonderful things like a family, love, and a home. But you can tell how much he has been through based on the way he phrased it. “A house with running water and lights”, a mom and dad that don’t fight, he wants no drugs, no lice, no bugs in the house. He wants help with school. He wants his own comb, and soap. He would like a safe AC/heater, a coat and a toothbrush. So when you think you don’t have what you want… think about this child. What can we do to make this stop. How can we help? Where can we volunteer? These children need to become a priority in life. It’s not their fault. They deserve a chance at a happy life.
Take a few minutes to truly be thankful for all that life has brought your way. Say a prayer, or think happy thoughts for those separated from their loved ones for whatever reason. Pray for that miracle to happen. #today
I’m thankful for every one of you who take the time to read my posts – Catch you back here tomorrow!
Thanksgiving has so much to do with traditions – family traditions of recipes made year after year, decade after decade, generation after generation. My Grandma’s Chocolate Pie (to die for!) is one of those recipes! It can be tricky when you want to make some of your favorite recipes to take with you when you aren’t having Thanksgiving at your house – so these recipes are all easily portable – and do not have to be reheated, an added plus, especially when the oven could potentially be very full! Click the orange links below for the recipes: Continue reading “Recipes to take for Thanksgiving Dinner – Including Grandma’s Chocolate Pie!”→
ONE WEEK! One week until it’s Thanksgiving Day. You may have been thinking about what to make or make to take… I snapped a photo of Fred’s plate a few years ago, this is a fairly quick and simple Thanksgiving Day meal to prepare – especially nice for smaller groups (for larger groups roast a turkey vs. a turkey breast). Lilies. I love them. They have the most wonderful scent ever! We usually buy 4 stems, and they last about 2 weeks. I usually try to find a few stems that have blooms that have not opened so they will last longer. This is what I do: Continue reading “Cut Lilies Can Make A Room!”→
First of all, can you believe it’s already NOVEMBER 1? Do you realize that it will soon be Thanksgiving… and CHRISTMAS!?? It’s hard to believe how quickly time passes… so make the best of it because 2019 is on its way!
