Guess the Artist (Detroit Institute of Arts) #23!

For this week’s Guess the Artist, I thought I would select a painting that has the lovey-dovey vibe going on (Reminder if you need it: Valentine’s Day is Wednesday). It’s AMAZING to me how this painting is so realistic on one side and so loosely painted on the other side – yet it blends so beautifully. This is one spectacular painting!

Pretty in Pink!

Just look at the perfection in this blooming beauty! A feast for the eyes for sure. I snapped this at a garden center on a windy day, so I lucked out that it’s in focus. Stunning petals, gorgeous bloom – makes spring feel very near! Especially since I have (or at least my eyes have) detected pollen already!

Chocolate Peanut Clusters – A Special Valentine’s Day Treat!

The other day, I thought to myself, hmmm… peanuts, chocolate – what does it take to make chocolate covered peanuts? Well, I searched. I found. I made and I am delighted. These were so quick to make, yet taste like something you would buy from a really good chocolatier! Of course your choice of chocolate is important. Quick, easy and a nice (and special) treat for Valentine’s. #youhavetimetopractice

Guess the Artist (Detroit Institute of Arts) #22!

This was a magnificent painting – keep in mind this image was taken with a phone in tricky lighting conditions. I think the painting is bolder than this (from what I remember). Do you have a clue who the artist is? What they may have been thinking when they painted this? The answer and interesting info below – be sure to check out the link to read more about the artist!

Our Resident (Neighborhood) Barred Owl

This is the cool (huge) owl that has fascinated our neighborhood day and night. He is remarkable and stoic. His head swivels, he meets your eyes – yet from quite a distance up in the trees. I don’t interfere with his thought process – I think he’s listening/sensing prey – he is always on high alert.

Grady Street House Plan by Our Town Plans for Southern Living

Now this is a gorgeous home – see real life images via the links in this post. Can’t you just envision yourself sitting on this beautiful front porch? What a way to welcome someone indoors! This is a solid home that allows some flexibility (mandatory for me) – it looks like it’s been there for a long time – kept up very well!

Guess the Artist (Detroit Institute of Arts) #21!

Most of you have read my remarks about the Detroit Institute of Arts. Mind blowing how stunning it is in every way. Their knowledge, creative display, and professionalism – I appreciate it so much. It’s the only way to keep these remarkable paintings intact over so many years. OK, the big question – can YOU guess who this artist is (signature has been altered to be unrecognizable).

A thought provoking quote …

My phone tends to take photos on occasion – and I thought this was a good one, it captured a nice sunset – good job! I saved this photo because it’s a good reminder of how quickly life goes by. There are so many things to be stressed about (many are inconsequential) – but this is a gentle wake up call to be thankful for what you have and feel blessed that you have it. I saw a bumper sticker on a fancy SUV the other day…

Little Edisto House Plan by Allison Ramsay Architects!

Isn’t this is a good looking plan? It’s not just a pretty face – it’s wonderful on the inside and the outside. I love the wraparound porch! This is a great plan to fit in an established neighborhood and blend in like it’s been there for decades. I would be thrilled both inside and outside in these wonderful spaces.

Now THIS is a meal I could eat every day…

Most of my recipes (especially this one) are more of a guide to a meal that I made and loved and thought you may love too. The beauty of it is that you can omit the ingredients you don’t like and fill it with flavors you DO like. There is no exact quantity. For two servings, this is how I made the above (and sprinkled with parmesan cheese!)…

Guess the Artist (Detroit Institute of Arts) #20!

Can you guess the artist? This might be an easy one for some of you. Another gorgeous painting I snapped a photo of with my phone - on display at the Detroit Institute of Arts! I highly recommend visiting – wear comfy shoes – no need to pack a lunch they have great eating places within the museum. So smart. They even have these cool stools that fold if you get tired and need to sit a minute. We walked for hours and hours. Had the best time. #cantwaittogoback

The Piedmont House Plan by C3 Studio!

Piedmont House Plan by C3 Studios

Doesn’t this house have a grand feel to it? The painted brick looks like it was built many, many years ago – yet freshened up and raring to go. This is a possibility for infill in an existing older neighborhood with similar style homes. Not that homes have to be exact, but their size and scale matters – just so it blends nicely with the existing homes.
