I snapped this photo while walking – it’s so hard for me to not stop and take photos. I’m not sure my other half appreciates this trait in me, but it can’t be helped… So I snap away, then try to catch up only to stop again.
The marsh here in the Lowcountry is dramatic and beautiful. Always changing – low tide, high tide, grasses change, birds, sky and oh those trees! Continue reading “Lowcountry Marsh”→
The Charleston, SC area has so much to offer. Something is always going on. Always. There is always an event of some sort. Fred and I went to the Mount Pleasant Pier (located in Mount Pleasant, SC) – it’s a park on a pier underneath the Ravenel Bridge. It is so nicely done, plenty of seating, a gift shop, areas to fish, clean fish, watch people, walk, visit, read a book, and… dance! Continue reading “Shaggin’ on the Cooper!”→
We recently popped into Taco Boy for a weekend lunch. This place is full of atmosphere. I love how the windows behind the bar roll up making the inside and outside one fabulous space! Continue reading “Cinco de Mayo & Taco Boy!”→
I saw this the other day and had to grab my phone and take a photo. Sadly the dog had turned it’s head and I missed the shot that was head on. This dog, sitting in the driver’s seat waiting for his person to come back to the car. He looked like he was the driver. It cracked me up. Delight in the little things!

Shadows intrigue me. They are often just as cool as the subject itself. We were headed out the door and this caught my eye… I had to stop and take a quick photo. The elegance of this gas lantern displaying it’s shadow on the brick was so cool. It makes the lantern look huge (it’s not). Continue reading “Gas Lantern Shadow”→
Our geraniums are bursting with color and have been for some time now. Even our geranium from last year that looked a little bleak after the winter (despite being put in the garage on the nights that we had that dipped below freezing) – but they are happy and blooming now.
I love this little scene. The pool, the wicker chair and the geranium. Our happy place!

I love this time of year. Temps are nice, nothing too crazy going on (like a hurricane) – everything is blooming outside, and inside as well!
This violet was given to us 6/18/2007 when our Jack Russell, “Reginald” passed away. A neighbor gave it to us (thank you Cora!) – and it has gotten bigger each and every year. This violet blooms like crazy, it’s the happiest ever. It’s been repotted several times. Continue reading “Portrait of a Blooming Violet!”→
The azaleas are blooming in Charleston and they are plentiful, especially on our street. We live in an older neighborhood and just about every house has azaleas that were planted years ago and some are quite big, they are blooming and look so happy right now.
I thought I would take a moment to showcase the white azaleas that you don’t see quite as often as the bright pink (seen in photo above). We have a few white azaleas and the rest are the bright pink.
There is a rule with azaleas. No trimming until after they bloom. Break that rule and you get no blooms. I know… every few years they get leggy and we cut them back, and last year it wasn’t at the optimal time. This year we will cut them all back after the blooming is over and we should be good for next year. I love when the entire street blooms at the same time (that doesn’t always happen). It’s stunning!
Happy Saturday!

I love this photo… it screams to me “OH HAPPY DAY!” – You can feel the sunshine in an almost flawless sky. The bright green of the leaves against the sunshine yellow flower. You’ll never guess where I took this photo… Continue reading “Oh Happy Day!”→
Just here to wish everyone a happy Saturday! Sending an image of
a live oak with the sun hitting the draping Spanish Moss and highlighting the resurrection fern – which is quite a miracle. Looks crispy and dead one moment and if a splash of rain hits it, turns bright green like the healthiest fern you’ve ever seen. Continue reading “Spanish Moss in Our Live Oak Trees”→
The large live oak trees in Charleston have such presence. They’re so strong. They have so much life with their branches reaching, twisting and turning. They are such beautiful trees. This is a close up of just how cool the shadows are on these trees. This is without the Spanish moss and Resurrection Fern. This is a younger tree. We planted it about 24 years ago, it was 10 years old at time of planting. We never guessed we would have seen it so large in our lifetime. Continue reading “A Strong Presence”→

I LOVE THIS PHOTO. Not sure why. It’s got so many things going on. Sometimes a quick snap can turn into something so visually interesting – something you could write many stories about… It looks like something in a scary movie to me… I think it’s the moon, the angle and the house that does it. 11 years ago today… ELEVEN! Where has the time gone? I remember it like it was yesterday. My parents came to visit from Michigan, and we went on a cruise on Norwegian Cruise Lines out of Charleston, SC – we had so much fun. We ate well, and they had Cooking Light (smarter options) available at each meal. Everything was fabulous! Continue reading “Cruise bound – 11 years ago today.”→
