Fall skies are so amazing to me. Just look at these clouds with the light filtering through. Out walking when I snapped this photo. The sky was FULL of these stunning clouds. Take time to look up and enjoy the beautiful view!

The flowers at the Island Inn (Monhegan, Maine) were stunning this year! These flowers in the dining room caught my eye and I had to sneak over and snap a photo.
Flowers add so much and these were beauties! Enjoy your Saturday – and remember to change the clock tonight before you go to bed!
🍁 FALL BACK 🍁
Set your clock back one hour (for those of you who observe Daylight Savings Time) – woohoo, this is the time of year where we GAIN an hour of sleep.
🔋 This is also the time to change the batteries in your Smoke Detectors/Carbon Monoxide Detectors – if you change them now you won’t have to worry about being woken in the middle of the night with it chirping AND you’ll be sure you are safer.

Tideland Haven house plan – this is a Southern Living plan. One of the most popular on this website. This is a plan available via Our Town Plans – there are now two versions as well as a garage plan that accompanies it nicely. If you have loved this plan and don’t have a lot picked out and aren’t truly fond of building, there is a house for sale in the Charleston, SC area and it’s a beauty. This home is situated on a tidal creek where you will have spectacular views! Great porches (and one with a fireplace!!) makes it quite a dream!
Pretty spectacular, isn’t it? I love this view from outside the kitchen looking through to the dining room on the opposite side with views of that stunning tidal creek. Take note of that beautiful cypress ceiling! And the way the light pours in those windows at the top – How nice!
Back View – Where you will likely live!
This view is of the back of this home – what a fabulous back porch with view of side porch on the left. That’s where the amazing fireplace is! Also a screened porch off the master (on right). Perfection!
Some details on this home: This one story plan is approximately 2,418 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. There is also an office/sitting room space that could easily become another bedroom in my eyes… As you will see in the numerous photos this home boasts fabulous porches – front, side and back. This home is situated on .87 acres along a tidal creek with a dock – (can you imagine sitting on your new porch with THAT view?!!). This home has heart pine floors and shiplap cypress ceiling. There are two fireplaces (inside and out) – it’s a beauty for sure! The current owners who built the house love to cook, so there is an amazing kitchen.
Update: this house has sold. If you’re thinking of building the Tideland Haven house plan by Southern Living, check out their AMAZING Facebook page full of great info, ideas and images!
Nothing says HAPPY HALLOWEEN like this painting! (Well, this is a print, but someone has the actual painting) – this stunning painting blows me away. The vibrance of the pumpkin with the light and the stem that twists and turns and is quite delicate at the end AS IS THE SHADOW.
I have this thing with shadows. When done perfectly they make a painting so much more dynamic. I love a stark contrast, and this painting shows just that. Vibrant, moving, mysterious, fun, magical. I love it!
Visit the Chadds Ford Gallery website for more work by Jamie Wyeth (as well as his father and grandfather – what a talented family!) – he paints with such passion. Wow.
We had SCE&G (South Carolina Electric & Gas) come out several months ago and tell us what we could do to improve energy usage, etc. This was one suggestion – we have a pull down stairway that goes to our attic (like many of you). When you close the door on the ceiling it’s not a sealed close, therefore there is hot air that eeks into the house in the summer and cool air in the winter. They suggested an attic stairway insulator – this was around $60 – and couldn’t be easier to use. You take the box up in the attic, then open it and it’s kind of like a pup tent that’s all set to go, you unpack and set it over the opening to the attic stairway. If you have to go in your attic for something, you just lift it (very, very light) and move it over, then place it back.
We bought from Lowe’s – I’m sure you can buy these other places, Lowe’s is just very convenient to where we live.
Leaving Port Clyde Headed to Monhegan | barbara stroud
Talk about ethereal! This scene, the feeling while being there, and that fantastic light in the midst of the fog were all captured in this photo. This is the scene as we were leaving Port Clyde, Maine (in the distance), headed to Monhegan. Always a good time, the fog made it extra special this time!
Happy weekend – catch you back here tomorrow!

This is Fred. Fred squinting in the bright sunshine waiting for me to take a photo, then the HURRY UP look, the I HAVE TO CLOSE MY EYES LOOK (put your sunglasses on Fred!) and the ahhhh, the sunglasses feel good look!
This is an older photo, I love his sunglasses now, he looks like a movie star – gotta try to get that shot! This photo was taken on Monhegan Island (Maine) – wish we were there now…
IT’S FRIDAY! Get out and enjoy!

I love these wild palms that pop up in Charleston. They usually pop up where you don’t want them (front yard, butted up to a walkway), but on occasion they pop in the right place. This palm provides great shade as well. As it grows you have to cut the branches so that you can walk underneath it (near a walkway). The price is right, haha…

The day before Irma visited Charleston we went out and snapped some photos. The clouds were wild and tumultuous – the tide was high and it was wildly windy. Still there was a sliver of sunlight on the water as a bird elegantly flew across the image.
Enjoy your Sunday!

I took this photo several years ago when my sister, mom and I had a long weekend on Mackinac Island. What a treasure! We had such an amazing time. We ate, walked, biked and had so much fun at night talking and up early and out on the porch with a coffee in hand.
I have a cool mom. She has such a great attitude on life.
Happy Birthday Mom! We wish you the healthiest and happiest birthday ever! You are too cool! xo, us
Ok, so this was taken this past summer when I was in Michigan for a quick visit with my family. It doesn’t seem as if it was taken that long ago. Sunsets are amazing and I am addicted to them, haha.
The broad expanse of that wonderful pink light both in the sky and on the water is breathtaking, as are the swirls of clouds!

Here is just a small portion of Susan’s Flower Garden – Monhegan, Maine. My first thought when I saw these flowers was that they appear to be reaching for the heavens. Gloriously happy and bright, with the sun shining warmly upon them.
I wonder how many people have smiled (or have taken photos) as they’ve walked past these flowers?

As many of you know, Monhegan Island is full of artists. Easels set up everywhere, paintings being created left and right. It’s amazing the talent on one small island.
Stan Moeller was giving a workshop and in the photo above they were painting on the lawn. This was a tricky week with a lot of fog, should make for some cool paintings!
Stan Moeller was the featured artist this year in the Island Inn dining room – very nice. Check out the Lupine Gallery for more work (click HERE to view paintings).

Isn’t this a beautiful home in Grosse Point, MI? I snapped this a few months ago through the car window (sorry about that) – ahhh! The lines of this house are STUNNING! The windows really add to the charm. This home was for sale (a few months ago) – it was a little out of our price range, haha. This is a fine home – very big – and drop dead gorgeous!
