One (of the many) things that I love about Allison Ramsey’s plans is the fact that they can fit into an existing neighborhood and blend seamlessly. This home can easily look as if it’s been there for a long time and maintained meticulously. It’s important (to me) when building in an older neighborhood. I think you will love this plan (along with fabulous porches on the front and back)! It’s fabulous, let’s take a peek…

Azaleas Blooming in Charleston, SC!

Spring is magical everywhere in the world, but springtime in Charleston brings a special kind of beauty. The scents wafting through the air are magical. Charleston has many large live oak trees, in this area they have Spanish moss hanging from their stately limbs, they also have Resurrection fern growing on the large branches. Talk about magical…

This plant is such a joy I cannot even begin to express how much I absolutely adore it. We planted a few in pots last year – around this time, they bloomed all summer long! Literally you do nothing but make sure they don’t get too dry (especially in a pot). Give them a nice drink of water when they look thirsty and they’re good!

The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming the wisteria is giving off its heavenly scent. Life is good here in Charleston, SC. This really is the perfect time to be in Charleston. Soon the weather will heat up (exponentially) and the humidity will peak. So get out and enjoy it while you can…

There are such beautiful lines to this plan. This is another plan that could easily fit into an existing neighborhood as well as a newer neighborhood. It has style and charm, which is so important to me. It looks like a home that will stand the test of time and age beautifully.

It was a sunny, pretty day, first day of Spring when I made this pasta salad. The sun was warm and fresh ingredients sounded divine. So I whipped together this pasta salad, great served on a bed of arugula and spinach. Thankful my husband doesn’t mind standing outside and tending to the grill on days like today when the yellow pollen is wafting through the air.

Another great book by Kristin Hannah! I’m trying not to read all of her books at once, although it’s quite hard not to. I’ve got it down to every other book, but will have to move that to every third book. I just don’t want to be without one of her books! What an escape reading is!

Spring is such a beautiful time here in Charleston, SC. Everything (or at least it feels like literally EVERYTHING) is in bloom or about to be. The flowers are stunning, the garden stores are packed, and the need to plant is very real. Planting herbs, flowers, trees or shrubs, it makes your yard a happy place.

It was officially spring yesterday a little after 5AM EST and I thought this was the perfect photo to share. I love this flower, it was stunning. (I took this photo, but this is not at my house) – I’m not sure of the name of it, but there were plenty and they were beautiful! Very springy! The weather is warming the flowers are blooming – it’s our most beautiful season.

This toasted (under the broiler) sandwich is quick to throw together with just a few ingredients. It’s also fabulous tasting. I used healthy (store bought) bread, had a ripe avocado (do you know the trick for keeping them good for a long time?) – Give this a try, I think you’ll love it!

Eric Jacobsen. Master of simplifying a busy scene and making it WOW. Bold and loose is what he teaches and bold and loose is how he paints. It’s impressive and makes such a statement. It’s been ten years since I last featured Eric, whew, time flies!

What have you been doing? Oh, not much, just deleting overhead power lines from a beautiful image, sigh… In this area where I snapped this photo while driving by (as the passenger) it was riddled with power lines. So many of them. I don’t have technical wizardry to remove these things, I erase a little at a time until *poof* it’s gone!

Stunning plan. The exterior is exquisite. The shake roof is so beautiful. So many details make this plan one that will be around for generations. I usually try to feature homes that can fit into existing older neighborhoods so that the flow, rhythm and character remains. This is a beauty and could fit in nicely in many neighborhoods – let’s take a peek…

I mean WHO in the world could possibly not love Ina? It’s a comfort to watch her cooking in her kitchen, whipping up the tastiest and most beautiful foods you can imagine. Most of us have tried at least one of her recipes (or many more!!). This book isn’t so much about the food, it’s about Ina herself.

Hank Buffington – a fabulous artist with a great sense of humor. His paintings reflect the beauty found in nature & life. Sachuest Sunrise (above) is a particularly difficult one to paint (to me), so many similar colors – you really have to know what you’re doing. I love the light on the water, the rocks and sense of distance and the sky which makes the water feel as if it goes on forever.
