Charleston, SC – Charming, colorful, adorable, classy, historic, and beautiful!
Enjoy your Saturday – Catch you back here tomorrow!
Lake + Land Studio. I love this group of residential designers. They’re young with brilliant ideas. Their plans are amazing. I always look forward to see what’s next!
This is the Madison Residence. This plan is 2,989 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. It’s a roomy plan that offers many wonderful porches! If you add the outdoor living spaces the total square footage of this home is about 4,305! There is plenty of entertaining to be done inside and outside of this wonderful home, especially with the double fireplace! This house looks gorgeous from all sides!
The downstairs of this plan is amazing all by itself! It’s nice how the Master Bedroom/Bathroom is separated by the other Bedroom by Laundry room, I also adore the little side porch off of the Laundry area! Perfect if you’re working in the yard and don’t want to track dirt throughout the house!
The open Living, Dining, Kitchen is so nice, especially with the French doors off of the Dining and Living areas. The fireplace is double sided. Can you imagine using it on the porch? Is that heavenly or what?
Vaulted ceilings in the Living area is spectacular! The second floor has two Bedrooms and share a Bathroom. Perfect! Another plus is the Sitting Area – it’s always nice to have a place to escape to! This plan offers a lot of options! Click HERE to see the plan package with more details on the Madison Residence!

Good lighting is key. When you have good lighting it makes a room look so much nicer. Good doesn’t always mean expensive. REJUVENATION is a great company, that was acquired by Williams-Sonoma several years ago. They have an updated look, the lighting (and everything in the catalog) is beautiful!

Here are a few of my favorites from the HOME OFFICE catalog received mid July 2016:
How classy is this extension cord? You can also buy a socket adapter and a Filament Bulb and have a tabletop light that is way cool! These extension cords come in a variety of colors, sizes and styles – each and every one is so unique! This is also a cool option for charging your phone, something we all do, but doing it this way adds a little style!
See what I mean?
This is an original. I love the wall light, but the table lamps are just as amazing – many colors! This light was made so that it can be adjusted with the lightest touch and hold in place. Aluminum shade and arm.
This is the larger lamp, there is also a smaller one, I just love how the pulls hang down a bit. Very classy and simple design.
Another favorite, perfect for reading in bed! This is another that comes in a variety of body and shade finishes. You can move the shade to direct light exactly where you need it.
Read a bit about Rejuvenation, from their website:

This photo is from the archives, but I thought I would post it today as a reminder not to miss your local Farmer’s Market! What better way to buy the freshest produce that is LOCAL! (Asparagus is no longer in season here in Charleston, SC – but right now we have so many options it will boggle the mind!) – I love the green against the pink rubber band – Wow!

27 Aiken Street by Our Town Plans. It’s a beauty isn’t it? This is true Lowcountry style, yet a style of home that would fit anywhere. Such wonderful details make it look like a house that has been in a charming neighborhood for years. It blends in seamlessly and has so many details that make this the perfect house plan!
This plan is 2,233 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The exterior of this home is simply gorgeous. The metal roof is like the icing on the cake, just beautiful! How nice would it be to have a substantial porch. This front porch measures 10′ deep and over 30′ long – can you imagine?
This plan has an open Kitchen/Living area so nice with all those French doors! It also has a real masonry fireplace. You don’t see that too often anymore in newer homes. The Master Bedroom/Bath/Closet is on one side of the hallway and there are two Bedrooms/Bathrooms on the opposite side, along with a Powder Room. This really gives everyone there own space, very nice!
Upstairs is a Bunk Loft room with built in platform beds in the dormers. Pretty cool, hmmm? That leaves a wide open space to use as another living area. Nice Bathroom and Closet as well.
Be sure to check out real images of this plan (I love how Our Town Plans does this!) – and more here on Houzz! Wow! I’m dreaming that I am already there!

Regal. A home with presence, wouldn’t you say? The varying textures, the dark trim, the reflections in those beautiful windows all make this one heck of a house in Charleston, SC.
Those dark crosses on the left hand side of the building on the second and third floors are Earthquake Bolts!

This is the Macon Residence house plan by Lake and Land Studio. The total square footage of this plan is 4,059 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. I love the unique layout. There is a guest suite/apartment on the left side (1 Bedroom/1 Bathroom) and a residence on the other. It’s really much more than a guest suite, I would be happy to live in it! Perfect for someone visiting, or a relative that you would like living nearby! It would give them all the space that they need and you would be right next door.
The exterior of this home is exquisite. Can you imagine?
(Can click to enlarge image). The guest cottage on the left has a wonderful front porch, you enter into the living room. There is a Living, Bedroom, Kitchen, Bathroom, front and back porch – wonderful, right?! Perfection!
The main house has a nice front porch with entry near the Dining room. This is a nice open plan Kitchen, Great Room, wonderful back porch and a master suite downstairs. I wouldn’t change a thing!
Upstairs there are two more Bedrooms, a nice Bathroom, closets and a Family room! Perfect when you need more than one entertaining space!

Charleston, SC – it’s quite a city, that’s for sure! Charleston, SC has been voted the World’s Best City. Wow.
Last year we were number 2 on the list, still impressive – and we’re the number one city in the US and Canada for the fifth year in a row!
So, if you ever are wondering where to take a vacation, this is the place! I think I would plan ahead, I think it’s going to get busier!
From the historic treasures this city has to offer, to the beautiful architecture and food that will blow you away – it’s no wonder!
This blip about Charleston, SC – from Travel + Leisure’s website:
Charleston moved up from the No. 2 city in the world last year to No. 1. The city has shown incredible resilience and, as one reader wrote, there is still “no place quite like it.” In addition to historic battlegrounds and jasmine-scented streets, Charleston is home to award-winning hotels (including the Spectator, No. 2 in the world this year) and restaurants. Antebellum charm, excellent boutiques, and the beautiful waterfronts at Sullivan’s Island and Folly Beach make this city one of the most beloved in the U.S.—and now, the world.
That’s quite an honor – Catch you back here tomorrow!
This is the Kensington Plan by Karoleena. This plan is 1,700 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I love the sleek design. If you aren’t familiar with Karoleena I urge you to check them out. Their plans are wonderful. These homes are built in British Columbia and shipped just about everywhere. They have a fabulous website, it explains their process, shows the design in much more detail than what I’m showing you. You can even get pricing information for everything. It’s out of this world! Just wait until you see the floor plan!
I love how the living area (Living Room, Dining, Kitchen) is located on one “wing” and the bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry are located on the opposite “wing”. It keeps things nice and quiet, giving privacy which is sometimes hard to do. Be sure to check out their website, there are many more images – Click HERE to see images (interior and exterior!) of the different plans, the Kensington plan included!

Who would have thought there would be this much charm in a 280 square foot guest cottage? There is. Oodles of it! This plan is 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and when you add the unconditioned space (porch and screened porch) that almost doubles the square footage. Outdoor living space is fabulous! This would make a sweet addition to your backyard for when you have a guest, just think of the possibilities! This plan would make an amazing art studio! You could paint inside OR outside while on the porch! Can you imagine?? This is the 101 Scout Path plan by Our Town Plans.
The layout is simple, a bedroom, bathroom and closet. There is a sink outside of the bathroom area, which is nice, especially if you’re using this as an art studio, plenty of room to wash your brushes! The closet area could hold your art supplies. There beautiful windows and oh… the porches! You’ve got to see photos of actual images of this plan that were built, each is unique, all are fabulous!

This is such a cool building, so it doesn’t take a lot to make it into a wonderful photo. I snapped this photo in March of 2007. Just look at the charm and character. Isn’t the old wavy glass on the windows just beautiful? I love the different textures – this building has such a wonderful patina!

From the photo archives… Palmetto Bluff, (Bluffton, SC) – taken September 2007.
We headed out on a road trip shortly after our last dog passed away – Reggie, he was a sweetie. Needed to get away from the silence and busy our minds with beauty. Let me tell you Palmetto Bluff is the perfect place to do just that!
