Stan Moeller Workshop – Island Inn, Monhegan

As many of you know, Monhegan Island is full of artists. Easels set up everywhere, paintings being created left and right. It’s amazing the talent on one small island.

Stan Moeller was giving a workshop and in the photo above they were painting on the lawn. This was a tricky week with a lot of fog, should make for some cool paintings!

Stan Moeller was the featured artist this year in the Island Inn dining room – very nice. Check out the Lupine Gallery for more work (click HERE to view paintings).

Flower Power – Monhegan

Monhegan. A beautiful island in Maine located about 10 miles off the coast. This island is so special. The only trucks you see are working trucks (deliveries, etc.) – everyone else is on foot. There is so much history on this island and the amount of talent is immeasurable.

Monhegan is also home to the most beautiful flowers. Everywhere. Gorgeous!

View from a Sonoma Winery

This is an image from the archives – taken at Viansa winery in Sonoma, CA. This was taken waaaay back in 2005. But I’m still remembering what a great time we had and how after spending time in San Francisco (and loving it!) there was a world so different just a short distance away! The timing of this shot is unfortunate – mid day bright light, but you can still see how beautiful it was and i’m sure, still is!

Grosse Pointe, MI Home

Beautiful home in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI

Isn’t this a beautiful home in Grosse Point, MI? I snapped this a few months ago through the car window (sorry about that) – ahhh! The lines of this house are STUNNING! The windows really add to the charm. This home was for sale (a few months ago) – it was a little out of our price range, haha. This is a fine home – very big – and drop dead gorgeous!

For those of you interested in a home in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI – this is a beauty and is 7,700 square feet with 7 bedrooms, 5 full baths and 5 half baths. Can you imagine? Click that link for more info…

ONE WAY!

This sign struck me – it says ONE WAY on both sides of it, yet it appears that each points to a slightly different path.

Which made me think about life. Some of us go one way down the path of life and others of us go down a different path – I think it’s important to remember that it doesn’t matter what path we go down, when all come together and are one great country. People helping people, as we’ve seen in the case of all the flooding in Texas. Cars lined up with boats, supplies, gear – people risking their lives and belongings to help their fellow men, women and children (and animals! Let’s not forget the animals!)

Bravo to all of you who have done something to help Texas, whether it was by taking part in the survival efforts or whether you made a donation, no matter the amount.

There is only ONE WAY for us to be. United.

Hominy Grill – Charleston, SC!

We stopped in Hominy Grill for breakfast a few times last month – while it can be very busy on weekends and during holidays, we were lucky enough to catch a quiet breakfast.

Delicious food and such atmosphere! If you’re in Charleston, SC – I would highly recommend! Check out their menus!

Bless This House…

Over ten years ago we put down a walkway with pavers in our backyard. At that time there was a little edge that had concrete to hold the brick from shifting. I pressed this nickel-size “Bless This House” trinket into the wet concrete. Usually there is dirt right around it and plants, I brushed them out of the way to get a little shot… I love this!

Funny how I had this post scheduled for today – I wrote it last week (prior to knowing about Hurricane Irma) – so this photo seems really apropos, don’t you think? Not just for our house, but for the many, many homes that have been/are in/will be in Irma’s path. It’s been an exhausting several days of not knowing the direction Irma is headed. As I write this little blip (Friday 9/8) conditions seem more favorable for the Charleston, SC area, and less favorable for all of Florida. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is enduring the wrath of Irma. I think we are all weather obsessed right now – we have hunted for stations that still had gasoline, we’ve got our supply of water, peanut butter, crackers, and, well hell, doughnuts. As of today we should feel the rain, wind and possible flooding mainly on Monday and Monday night. Prayers for those dealing with the devastation, recovery & cleanup.

A Quintessential Maine Cottage

A quintessential Maine cottage. I love the white picket fence with the beautiful flowers blooming like crazy. This cape style home is a beauty and is situated on the most magnificent island ever. You may have heard me speak of it…?? (HA) – Monhegan!

Oh to be a flower on Monhegan!

Oh to be a flower on Monhegan – with all the adoring fans constantly walking by shouting words of praise and whipping out their cameras/phones for a quick, yet exceptional photo.

I’ve always loved nasturtiums – my mom usually has a little vase of them on the kitchen counter. So pretty!

Looks like fire in the sky – Monhegan!

We see the most spectacular sunsets when we’re in Maine. We see them here in Charleston as well, but it just seems like they are over the top when on vacation. Sunset usually occurs while we are having dinner in the Island Inn dining room. I usually make quick run to the porch for a few photos and try to get back before I’m missed. How can you NOT take a photo? The sky is so wild and vibrant. Wow!

These beautiful sunrises and sunsets are proof that life is full of magic.
