Talk about ethereal! This scene, the feeling while being there, and that fantastic light in the midst of the fog were all captured in this photo. This is the scene as we were leaving Port Clyde, Maine (in the distance), headed to Monhegan. Always a good time, the fog made it extra special this time!

I love snapping photos when the water is like glass, where the reflections are sharp and dramatic. It’s especially cool with fog hovering in the air. This year we had the foggiest trip to the island (Monhegan), thankfully the seas weren’t rough in the fog. I have heard stories…
The return trip was a bit rough, but at least you could see the coastline. The ability to see land and have my Sea Bands on did the trick, thank goodness!

Loopsi Doodle – I learned the word from a friend, Carol Bass – a fabulous artist and person. I had posted one of my doodles on social media and she said it’s a Loopsy Doodle. I love that name! I have many of these, usually done while on the phone or mindlessly chatting.
Often times I start with the pen down and don’t lift it until I’m done. I see a break in this one, do you spot it? These are so fun, try it next time you’re on the phone!
Is there anything better than a sunset? Truly, we have to stop making dinner reservations during this time! I think next year we will eat pizza and take photos of the sunset! Ha ha… I run outside and snap a few as quick as I can. It’s difficult to stop, the light and colors change so quickly, illuminating yet another area in a more dramatic way then the first however many photos! I love this one with the cottage light on – adds so much charm.
This is Monhegan. Beautiful, charming and peaceful…

I love how these lobster traps are stacked near the brewery on Monhegan. I realize they’re there for a reason and not just to look good, but… they form a wall of the coolest kind.
Monhegan, and even Maine in general is a lot like that. Items used for form and function and not necessarily to “look good”, but they do!
Clearly this is not a photo of me. It’s Charlie, our JRT. He’s out of sorts here, normally his entire body is on his bed. Funny beast. We all have our days I suppose.
In an effort to type the minimal amount this week (hand not happy), I will be posting images this week – back to normal next week, I hope!

I love these wild palms that pop up in Charleston. They usually pop up where you don’t want them (front yard, butted up to a walkway), but on occasion they pop in the right place. This palm provides great shade as well. As it grows you have to cut the branches so that you can walk underneath it (near a walkway). The price is right, haha…
St. Michael’s Church steeple is pretty remarkable, isn’t it? Definitely an icon in our beautiful city. The well cared for palms line the street and the flag flies proudly. This is Charleston, SC!

The day before Irma visited Charleston we went out and snapped some photos. The clouds were wild and tumultuous – the tide was high and it was wildly windy. Still there was a sliver of sunlight on the water as a bird elegantly flew across the image.

I took this photo several years ago when my sister, mom and I had a long weekend on Mackinac Island. What a treasure! We had such an amazing time. We ate, walked, biked and had so much fun at night talking and up early and out on the porch with a coffee in hand.
I have a cool mom. She has such a great attitude on life.

This is the Laura B – Monhegan Boat Line – on a foggy Port Clyde (Maine) day. This boat is also known as the mailboat. This is one hard working boat – it delivers freight (you wouldn’t believe what all can fit on this amazing vessel) to Monhegan, and also picks up items from Monhegan. It’s the “early” boat – We recently came back from the island on this boat in fairly rough seas. It didn’t have a problem. These boats will run when others will not. So when Monhegan Boat Lines doesn’t run due to weather, you know it’s wicked! I’ve seen videos that have me scrambling for my Sea Bands, haha. A beautiful boat indeed!

Ok, so this was taken this past summer when I was in Michigan for a quick visit with my family. It doesn’t seem as if it was taken that long ago. Sunsets are amazing and I am addicted to them, haha.
The broad expanse of that wonderful pink light both in the sky and on the water is breathtaking, as are the swirls of clouds!

Here is just a small portion of Susan’s Flower Garden – Monhegan, Maine. My first thought when I saw these flowers was that they appear to be reaching for the heavens. Gloriously happy and bright, with the sun shining warmly upon them.
I wonder how many people have smiled (or have taken photos) as they’ve walked past these flowers?
