People LOVE To Shop- Rediscover the Joy of Shopping at Fresh Market!

inside grocery store, produce section, many people, Fresh Market
Grand Opening of Fresh Market in Mount Pleasant, SC

Long ago, when I was growing up – shopping was so much fun. Everyone looked forward to it, whether something was purchased or not, the fun was in the looking. In my high school years to my twenties, we would meet at Hudson’s department store. We would have lunch at Lakeshore Grill within the store. Maurice salad was their specialty, but everything was delicious. We treasured those visits for years.

Book Suggestion: Night Road by Kristin Hannah!

Book on marble table, Kristin Hannah Author, Night Road - A Novel, white cover with mountains, trees and clouds

You know that feeling when you finish a book you really didn’t want to end? Characters that are all so wonderful not to mention an idyllic setting (Pacific Northwest). This is a book you’ll never forget. As I mention in my review, this book really should be required reading for everyone in high school.

Life as a Bird in the Great Smoky Mountains

Bird perched on a railing, looking out over the Great Smoky Mountains, Waynesville, North Carolina

Can you imagine life as a bird in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park? The freedom to fly hither and yon. Life as a bird comes with options. You glide with the wind. Or you take a break at the bird feeder and hang out with your friends. Or, if you preferred, you just take a break and look out over the beautiful vistas. #lifeisgood

Stylish Duplex House Plan for Modern Families: TNH-DU-01 plan by MK Design Group!

Duplex house plan, one story
TNH-DU-01 duplex plan by MK Design Group!

I love a good traditional house plan that has the ability to fit into an older neighborhood. This is a duplex option that doesn’t necessarily look like a duplex. I like that the left side of the duplex is set more forward. It has a porch on the side. The right side is set back with a porch on the front. This is a great choice for families who want to live close but not necessarily in the same house. Let’s take a peek…

Support Chef Thornton: Buy a Mug for a Cause, Donate or Share…

Quick snapshot while Max was making us an excellent cup of coffee – Orchard Coffee Shop, Waynesville, NC

This is the coolest coffee shop in Waynesville, NC. I started following Orchard Coffee after Hurricane Helene. During the aftermath they did so much to help their community, it truly was jaw-dropping. Everyone who worked here went the extra mile and then the unthinkable happened…

How To Identify the Birds You’re Watching!

mountains, tree, hummingbird feeder, hummingbird

Is there anything better than getting away to the mountains in the midst of jaw dropping beauty to reset yourself? Everyone needs to get to the mountains at some point. No need for a TV here, so much to watch, it’s ever changing. The clouds, the mountains, the fog, the plants/blooms and of course, the birds, rabbits, etc. The birds were a special treat this visit…

Bluff Towne Cottage House Plan by Allison Ramsey Architects!

House plan with wonderful windows, two story, great front porch
Bluff Towne Cottage House Plan by Allison Ramsey Architects!

I truly feel that most of Allison Ramsey’s house plans would fit into established neighborhoods that already foster a sense of character and perhaps have been there for a while. I’m usually thinking about my neighborhood (and nearby neighborhoods) when I mention this. When I first saw this plan, even the interior with built in bookcases – it truly looks like an older home with all the charm. Let’s take a peek…

Do you know the name of this lovely bloom?

Climbing flower on a gate, pink flowers, roses maybe, charleston, sc

This photo was taken on a walk last week, downtown (Charleston, SC) – there are so many flowers blooming right now it will dazzle your mind, ha ha. It’s beautiful to see everything in bloom, the bees so busy, the scent from the jasmine is starting, oh… next the ligustrums which are exploding with small white blooms. It’s like the strongest scented candle in the very best way.

Photo taken at Elizabeth Stuart Design in Mount Pleasant, SC

Exquisite, right? I love this orange table with what reminds me of old time ice cream chairs, and oh! The light yellow umbrella is the perfect accompaniment. I love the shadows from the different plants – This looks like a lovely place for an Easter brunch (or any meal!)

Morning Walk – Charleston, SC

charleston, sc, legate street, tradd street, horse and carriage, tourist, guide to give you the scoop.
Corner of Tradd St & Legare St, Charleston, SC

It’s so refreshing to get out and walk somewhere different. We have a few different routes or places that we walk but every once in a while it’s like a mini vacation to drive a few miles away, park and get out and walk somewhere different. It opens your perspective and we see fresh ideas. Plants, flowers, etc.
