A Canopy of Oak Tree Limbs
The Charleston, SC live oak trees are something to be treasured. In this photo, I shot upward. The limbs form a canopy over the road which is magnificent, especially on hot days! There is enough shade to walk laps (one time around the block is 0.8 miles) and for the most part stay out of direct sun. It also helps if you get caught in the rain, the trees shield you from regular rain – but not hard rain.
Bright Flowers Against Dark Grey…
I have such fun with flowers. If I receive flowers I will take an ungodly amount of photos. I love experimenting with different backdrops. I’m partial to a dark background or a white background, each can be stunning in their own way depending upon the subject.
Lowcountry Marsh
I snapped this photo while walking – it’s so hard for me to not stop and take photos. I’m not sure my other half appreciates this trait in me, but it can’t be helped… So I snap away, then try to catch up only to stop again.

Sweet Beast
Charlie – our Jack Russell Terrier. I love when the sunlight is streaming in our back room, which is painted a dark charcoal gray, and I can get a photo shoot of Charlie. His white fur highlighted by the sunshine – his gaze fixated either on a carrot or the mention of one.

Sunroom Flowers…
I like to say I’m a lot like MacGyver (remember that TV show?) – I can find a way to make things work using objects I have sitting around. This photo is from years ago, flowers growing like crazy in our sunroom. All of a sudden I needed a prop to keep my Amaryllis up straight. I looked around for various things to use, then I came upon some well-used paintbrushes. PERFECT! It worked like a charm.
Where to Next?
I saw this the other day and had to grab my phone and take a photo. Sadly the dog had turned it’s head and I missed the shot that was head on. This dog, sitting in the driver’s seat waiting for his person to come back to the car. He looked like he was the driver. It cracked me up. Delight in the little things!

Gas Lantern Shadow
Shadows intrigue me. They are often just as cool as the subject itself. We were headed out the door and this caught my eye… I had to stop and take a quick photo. Poolside Geraniums – Charleston, SC
Our geraniums are bursting with color and have been for some time now. Even our geranium from last year that looked a little bleak after the winter (despite being put in the garage on the nights that we had that dipped below freezing) – but they are happy and blooming now.
I love this little scene. The pool, the wicker chair and the geranium. Our happy place!

Portrait of a Blooming Violet!
I love this time of year. Temps are nice, nothing too crazy going on (like a hurricane) – everything is blooming outside, and inside as well!
This violet was given to us 6/18/2007 when our Jack Russell, “Reginald” passed away. A neighbor gave it to us (thank you Cora!) – and it has gotten bigger each and every year.
