A Stunning Display of Floral Beauty!

pink "confederate roses" in south carolina

This reminds me of the tissue paper flowers I made in grade school, does anyone remember those? I took this photo in Summerville, SC a few weeks ago. I saw on a post from last year that I took a photo of the same stunning bush of flowers, but a month earlier. They were darker in color and just as stunning. I did a reverse Google search to figure out what it’s called…

Mums The Word!

a burst of mums in purple, yellow and white

Mums! They’re everywhere signaling fall has officially arrived, cooler air is on the horizon and shorter days are coming soon, woohoo! These mums are more than just pretty, very temporary decor on your front porch, oh no… they’re so much more!

It’s Officially Fall – Super Excited!

dirt road with scattered autumn leaves in yellows and reds

Fall officially began Monday (9/22) and I couldn’t be more hopeful for cooler weather to come our way soon. As I write this the weather forecasters are showing possible storms headed this way soon. We continue to monitor and have a plan for food, water, etc. so we can stay in.

Olive Tree, Charleston, SC!

Aren’t they beautiful? Spotted this olive tree while out and about a few weekends ago and thought it was pretty spectacular! You can’t just pluck an olive and eat it – I’ve read the taste is abhorrent at best, even if you love olives. They must be placed in a brine for a period of time. #nowyouknow But… they sure are beautiful!

Plentiful Butterflies…

The butterflies are plentiful right now. Around certain plants they were swarming at this local nursery/design shop. They have gorgeous plants and flowers and the butterflies really gravitated towards some of them. To the point they were all around my head, ha ha. Just looking out of our windows I’m see so many, all different colors – just beautiful!

Fall Is Upon Us…

Fall hit and the temps in Charleston rose. Hmmm. I think they’re supposed to drop a few degrees over the coming days, here’s hoping! Whether it’s a tad warm or not, you can still feel the fall vibe in the air. The sun has shifted dramatically. Sun that used to pour into the kitchen windows while making dinner now doesn’t come close. I love the subtle changes and I notice each one.

Happy 1st Day of Fall, Y’all!

First. Day. Of. Fall! How exciting is this? To me, it’s the best of the best. Fall is my favorite season by far, I love knowing the weather will turn crisper, less humid, I love knowing the leaves change (at least in some places, like where I took this photo). We don’t have a lot of color change here in Charleston. A few trees do change, and that is always exciting to see.

Fall back… and add an extra hour to your day!

Screen Shot 2013-10-24 at 11.01.48 AM

Well Daylight Savings Time is coming to an end in this part of the country, which means you get an extra hour of sleep, never a bad thing, right? Don’t forget to set your clocks, watches, oven, microwave, etc. back one hour before you hit the hay!

What are you going to do with this extra hour? I think I will probably wake up at 4AM instead of 5 for the next foreseeable future! Might as well get up and enjoy the day, right? I’ll catch you back here tomorrow, and I promise to be very well rested, hee…

Fall is fabulous… my absolute favorite time of year! The days are getting cooler now… soon the time changes and we get an extra hour of sleep, woohoo! Charlie especially loves it because in addition to walking in the morning, he can get a walk in after dinner. We always feel better if we move after we eat… can’t just sit!

Hope you all have a wonderful week

Fall is in the air… and on the door!

I swear the people who own the Marston House (in Wiscasset, ME) have such good taste! More coming soon in a future post about staying at the carriage house, it was nothing short of amazing!

Here’s just a quick photo of their wreath, just beautiful for fall!

Speaking of fall, it actually arrived here in South Carolina and we couldn’t be happier! Our fall may be a bit different than what you expect… highs in the 70/80’s and lows in the 50/60’s for the most part. Sunny days, cool nights, love it!

Have a great weekend and I’ll catch you back here tomorrow!

Autumn in Wiscasset, Maine!

I looked back through my photos to find an autumn photo… this one is from 2009 and is a photo driving back from Rockland towards Wiscasset, Maine. Wiscasset is the prettiest little town. It has so much to offer, galleries, restaurants, antique stores, all kinds of good stuff!

You may have heard of Red’s Eats also located in Wiscasset, supposedly they have good lobster rolls. They must have something good, there is always a line! Enjoy your first day of Autumn, I am THRILLED that summer is behind us. Winter in Charleston, SC is pretty darn nice and I’m thrilled it’ll be here in another 3 or 4 months, ha ha… Enjoy your fall!

Catch you back here tomorrow!
