When I first saw this image – it stopped me in my tracks. The words Daphne wrote about “Reaching” really resonated with me. This pandemic has gone on now over one year. By now, most of us know someone who has had COVID-19 and has struggled with it, in the best case scenarios. I was out on a morning walk, and ran into this sight. Whoa! Grab the phone, catch the light in the Spanish moss hanging from the live oak trees (and closest in image is a crepe myrtle). I love walking in Charleston, you always run into something to photograph… I’ve learned not to leave my phone at home!

Charleston, South Carolina. Always beautiful, always something blooming, even this time of year. Camellias are beautiful flowers and they are abundant here. Some people like to float them in a pretty glass bowl – I snapped this while out on a walk ;) There was a tulip tree nearby budding, so hoping a frost doesn’t zap it before I can get some beautiful photos!

Islands. We love them. We have so many in close proximity. Some feel more “islandy” than others. A friend offered for us to visit her place on Seabrook Island (SC) – we took a quick day trip and were astounded at the beauty. How could something so beautiful be so close? Unless you live or are staying on the island it’s gated. So that’s probably why we’ve never had the opportunity prior to this.

Woohoo, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I know we ALL welcome 2021 and are thankful to bid “Buh bye” to 2020. As I write this post it’s bizarre knowing that I’m beginning year ELEVEN of what was once a daily (how did I do it?) blog and now about 4 days/week. Not bad.
I look forward to sharing more artists, recipes, house plans and favorite things with you along with images (usually from around the Charleston, SC area, but not always).
If you design house plans or are an artist – please feel free to use the “Feature Requests” link (also located at the top of this page) – many people are hesitant because they think I charge when I feature an artist. I do not.

Can you believe Christmas is over? Where does the time go? It seems like it was just summer and now it’s after Christmas! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday, a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc. Most of these holidays center around food of some sort. So it’ll probably feel good to get out today and walk, run, or bike. I enjoy walking downtown taking photos!

Christmas Eve is a magical time. The memories from when I was a kid linger. I’m thankful and blessed to have such epic memories. One year we saw Santa’s footprints and reindeer footprints in the snow on a neighbor’s roof. Another year we saw Santa’s footprints in our living room! We couldn’t believe it!

These are actually called Christmas Butter Cookies – my family pulled the recipe out of a magazine back in the way back in the 1960’s and we’ve made them ever since. Five stars! Not only are they so tasty, but they are so much fun to make and especially to decorate.
