Beautiful…

Photo taken at Celadon in Mount Pleasant, SC

The other day we were out running errands. You know, the typical groceries, Costco (sometimes), Target (sometimes) and wherever else we need to head to. We popped in Celadon, because it’s nice to look around, see what they’ve got. It helps when you (or someone you know) is looking for a specific something – we take quite a few recognizance trips, to check out – see what’s available. Then in the future if we are in the market for a sofa, etc. we’ll have an idea what’s out there.

Brickyard Road House Plan by L. Mitchell Ginn & Assoc.!

Brickyard Road House Plan by L. Mitchell Ginn & Assoc.!

Stately. That’s what I think of when I see this house plan. There is a definite “grandness” about it. I love the height of this home, the roof lines, and all the windows letting the space fill with sunlight. I think it was clever to have entry to the garage on the side vs. the front, so the front of the house looks like all house (vs. garage). It also helps to have a curved walkway that leads to the entrance and not a driveway that pulls up to a garage. Read on to see the plan… it’s a beauty!

Bougainvillea in Charleston…

Bougainvillea in Charleston, SC

Such a pretty setting, isn’t it? All the pink blooms, with pops of white (and the cool blue chair) – all set in an English green space. Gorgeous! We stopped in Elizabeth Stuart Design (ESD) a week or two ago, looked around and then took a peek outside at the beautiful plants, furniture, etc. This setting is simply gorgeous! Bougainvillea’s are pretty amazing…

Featured Artist: Carol Bass!

Carol Bass. Just the mention of her name brings a smile. Each and every painting of Carol’s is bright and cheerful, full of fluid movement – her paintings emote such happiness. Whether you’re looking at a large abstract full of life, or several smaller paintings grouped together, the result is the same. Her paintings are like sunshine in a dark room. We have a few, and they never fail to lighten things up!

Contemplating More Time Outdoors…

Charlie contemplating more time spent outdoors…

Charlie. He’s the sweetest beast. I took this photo last summer when I walked outside and there he was on the sofa cushions, head on the armrest. I’m not sure if he was deep in thought or if the sunshine had lulled him to sleep. One of his micro naps that gives him energy for hours, ha ha.

My latest lunch obsession…

This is delish!

You know what it’s like to have a fabulous lunch – A lunch that makes you do a happy dance while you’re eating it? One that you look so forward to the next day? Well, this is that lunch! It’s light, and you feel good after you eat it. I’ve been having avocado toast with tomato for breakfast, this for lunch and then a variety of different dinners. I’m not perfect, I still like a few dark chocolate M&M’s on occasion, ha ha. I never cared much about Taboule until I ran across this brand…

What are a few things that make your day?

What are a few things that can make your day? It’s amazing how small it can be. It doesn’t have to be glitz and glamor, sometimes, the simple things bring the biggest smile and feeling of peace. A few of my things: A good book, this coffee mug (that is my everything mug – more on that…) and flowers. Who doesn’t love flowers? Especially flowers that express themselves so well, ha ha.

Sunflower Saturday!

Prayers for Ukraine…

A simple sunflower. So colorful, so full of life, hope and possibilities. Sunflowers are strong to be able to hold the flower up and track the sunshine. Prayers for Ukraine are on my mind, like most people, we see what’s happening and it’s devastating, chaotic and senseless. I just want all the innocent people who have done nothing to provoke such attacks to be ok and free from such devastating loss. Say a prayer for every single person who is helping the people who need it so desperately.

Adaptive Cottage House Plan (SL2075) by Moser Design Group for Southern Living

House plan in a neighborhood
, front/side image, one story, green shutters, white house, porch, red door, accessory building
Adaptive Cottage House Plan (SL2075) by Moser Design Group for Southern Living

This is a new plan by Moser Design Group for Southern Living House Plans. It’s a fabulous plan designed with flexibility in mind. This Adaptive Cottage plan allows you to age in place in style! Aging isn’t something we all want to think about, but if you’re making a major investment in your life, it’s a bonus if it can be a good fit for as long as possible. The front porch of this plan is so nice, and a good size! There is also a back screened porch, located off the kitchen, which I love! What a nice plan with so many options! It’s one story, so it’s great as you age – also if you need someone to live with you, there is space to make that happen.

Mango Salsa (perfect with Cilantro Lime Chicken!)

Mango Salsa, which is the perfect accompaniment to my Cilantro Lime Grilled Chicken. This dish is quick and healthy. The taste is off the charts good. We grill a few extra chicken breasts and have for lunch the next day (cold) – they’re fabulous! Mangos are amazing right now – this mango salsa recipe has less ingredients than most but so much flavor…

Prismatic Posies by Lauren Everett Finn 30×24″ Acrylic

Spring is just around the corner and as I write this, it’s felt like mid spring here in Charleston, SC. It’s been warm enough for people to flock to the garden centers and stock up on plants and flowers. Cold spell coming soon (Update: actually it’s here now)- at least for a night or two and then back to normal. I thought this painting by Lauren Everett Finn was apropos for this time of year. Bright and happy – it makes me smile.

Charleston’s abundant camellias!

Camellias in Charleston, SC

Spring in Charleston is literally an explosion of color. The stunning array of bright colors and scents wafting through the air are absolutely magical. This is my very favorite part about spring. The bees look happy, the birds are very busy and I’m watching the larger birds swoop from branch to branch. #itsajungleoutthere

The Castle Combe House Plan by Mitchell Ginn & Assoc.

The Castle Combe House Plan by Mitchell Ginn & Assoc.

I love the lines of this house! It reminds me of some of the Tudor style homes in the neighborhood. I love the high pitch, the dormers, the quaint arch around the entrance – this is STUNNING. The mix of board and batten, shingles and stone really makes this house look like it’s been in the neighborhood for a long, long time. The two small windows on either side of the door adds so much charm. #likeafairytale

Cajun Pork Chops with Cheesy Polenta and Asparagus… WOW!

Cajun Porkchops with Cheesy Polenta and Asparagus

Recipe Reminder: I saw this recipe was posted on my social media last year. Last March, I mentioned how FABULOUS the asparagus was, and I remember this recipe. It was beyond fabulous! Recipe is from Eating Well magazine – so it’s a health conscious recipe. #winwin The combination of flavors is incredible and this comes together surprisingly fast.
