I started the ArtFoodHome.com daily (now 4 times/week) blog 1/1/11 (easy to remember, right?) and have kept it going since then. Come back each day - I share with you:
ART: featured artists, art events, workshops, etc.
FOOD: recipes, restaurants, and good finds along the way
HOME: house plans, home design, places here in Charleston...
On year 14 of artfoodhome.com - share this site with anyone who you think might enjoy it!
Looking for a quick and easy lunch or dinner idea? I have one for you – especially if you whip together some tzatziki first. I posted a recipe for it not long ago and trust me, it’s a keeper and works perfectly in this tasty dish! It takes it from ho-hum to WOW!
I love living in a house built in the 1930’s. The charm and character can’t be beat. We found this old swing door in the attic of the garage many years ago, we cleaned it up, painted it and hung it. Now, when we need privacy in the kitchen (Fred’s WFH office is on the other side of that door. Since he’s on conference call after conference call, I close the door if I’m going to be in the kitchen, or if the dog acts up with UPS, FedEx, Amazon, USPS, any human, animal, etc. that moves past our house). I cannot imagine having a kitchen without it…
Just look at this stunning sky – the clouds seem to go on forever! When I walk it seems like I’m always looking up, especially early in the morning or around sunset – the Golden Hour, where the light is like magic… ✨ Always look up or you’ll miss out on so much!
I know I said this before… It’s fall y’all! It makes me so happy to not be smothered in humidity (as I write this). The fall flowers are out and about – they’re gorgeous aren’t they? Tomorrow is a very big day, so today is that day’s “eve”…
It’s fall y’all! Time to bake something and fill your home with those autumn baking aromas, particularly apples and cinnamon. I have just the recipe! I’ve made this several times and wouldn’t change a thing, except for the one step I keep forgetting to do, ha ha. This recipe works when I buy a small 2 cup buttermilk. (I use 1 1/4 cup for cold cucumber soup and the remainder for this recipe)!
This is one gorgeous building. I’ve loved it since I first saw it in 1988. Stunning architecture and so much history! This is One Broad Street – it’s in the heart of the Charleston, SC peninsula. There is so much history in this area, and this building is no exception!
I love barn homes. There is a special ✨magic✨ about them. They can be as exquisite and fancy as you like or as warm and comfortable with a more relaxing vibe. This plan has a garage/pool room downstairs with a living space upstairs. The living space isn’t an afterthought, that’s for sure! So many windows – there is stunning light in every space! I could live there happily!
We are island people. We don’t live on an island, but we love them. We are in need of a getaway, it’s been a long, long, long time… It started with Mackinac Island (MI), and Harsen’s Island (MI), then morphed to Monhegan Island (ME) and Seabrook and Kiawah Islands (SC) – the pull of tranquility can be overwhelming at times. #thisisoneofthosetimes I took this photo last year on a day trip to Seabrook. We had the best time ever!
I saw this recipe, as I am always in search of a new recipe to try 👀 – something healthy as a good side dish, that could even stand on it’s own as a meal with a salad. #winwin This recipe is quick and tasty, and as I mentioned it’s full of healthy ingredients as well.
As I’ve been saying for the past year and a half (at least)… This is an older photo. We’ve been dreaming of visiting this place we love, but this year just isn’t the year. Look at the magic! This was taken from the Island Inn on Monhegan facing Manana Island. Light on the island is so different. I have seen beautiful sunsets in my life, but nothing like I’ve seen on Monhegan!
Stunning homes! Good design, smart use of space, well built and so classy. The Little Diamond is a very cool plan that has most of the living on the main level. There are many options for this plan which can increase space as well as bedrooms/bathrooms making this the perfect home for your needs. I love the covered area to the garage. Plentiful windows, beautiful garage doors and LOVE the front door as well!
Everyone has their own opinion of their favorite season(s). My number one, hands down, favorite season is FALL – I love the autumn colors, the smell of leaves, the memories of fall are wonderful. I look forward to less humidity, as seen in this photo. Sometimes it’s just over the top…
Who in the world doesn’t love tzatziki? I cannot imagine there could be a soul alive that doesn’t jump at the chance to devour it, and making it at home is beyond quick and easy. I have purchased the store bought kind, but it never measures up to a good Greek restaurant’s tzatziki, until now!
Everyone likes to be in their “happy place” – this is ours. Clearly, you can see the joy that we finally made it to the island (old photo, we will not make it there in 2021) – this is one magical place that has a strong magnetic pull for so many of us. Monhegan is a special place in so many ways, but mainly it’s the friendships we’ve made throughout the years.
Jasper Road House Plan by Our Town Plans for Southern Living
Who doesn’t love house plans? We all like what we like, some of us are traditional, some modern, some of us like large homes and others prefer smaller. Whatever your preference there are plenty of house plans out there. What I really love is that most architects/designers will allow modifications to plans, assuring that it is your very own special place. I don’t create these house plans, I simply share what I like, and sometimes mention what I would change to make a plan work for me. This is fabulous plan, I simply LOVE the front porch and the side screen porch. It would be so difficult to leave that space! #stunning
