Spanish Moss in Our Live Oak Trees

Spanish Moss in Live Oak – Charleston, SC

Just here to wish everyone a happy Saturday! Sending an image of
a live oak with the sun hitting the draping Spanish Moss and highlighting the resurrection fern – which is quite a miracle. Looks crispy and dead one moment and if a splash of rain hits it, turns bright green like the healthiest fern you’ve ever seen. Continue reading “Spanish Moss in Our Live Oak Trees”

Monhegan Boat Line – Port Clyde, ME

Monhegan Boat Line – Port Clyde, ME

It’s always so exciting just getting to this point. To the point where you see the “Welcome to Port Clyde” sign hanging as you get ready to board the boat to Monhegan Island. Peace and tranquility are coming soon! The long days spent walking, eating, watching are on their way, woohoo! Continue reading “Monhegan Boat Line – Port Clyde, ME”

A Strong Presence

The large live oak trees in Charleston have such presence. They’re so strong. They have so much life with their branches reaching, twisting and turning. They are such beautiful trees. This is a close up of just how cool the shadows are on these trees. This is without the Spanish moss and Resurrection Fern. This is a younger tree. We planted it about 24 years ago, it was 10 years old at time of planting. We never guessed we would have seen it so large in our lifetime. Continue reading “A Strong Presence”

Cul de sac by Alberto Ortega 30×30″ Oil

Alberto Ortega – an artist originally from Spain now living in North Carolina. The way he captures every day living is so unique. Alberto’s paintings don’t need people in them, I can totally envision the people that live in this house just by the way he set the scene – I can think of so many stories just from this one image which is what makes it so unique. A Quick Daydream Vacation…

Sometimes it’s nice to get away. Somewhere different from where you are. If the weather is hot, then a cool location sounds wonderful. If it’s cool it would be nice to feel the sun shining. Cleaning out photos the other day I ran across this photo taken years ago at the Ritz Carlton – Amelia Island. We went for a few years at Thanksgiving and what a great time we had. We found a wonderful little Italian Continue reading “A Quick Daydream Vacation…”

Featured Artist: Mark Farina!

Monterey Bay – Hopkins Point II by Mark Farina 30×48″

Mark Farina. He paints all subjects – all are just beautiful. It looks like most of Mark’s work is plein air (painted from life – outdoors) – he’s able to catch the spontaneity of changing light/colors. Mark’s studio paintings have the same fresh feel to them, they aren’t overdone – which is no easy feat!

Looks like something in a movie…

Charleston, SC

I LOVE THIS PHOTO. Not sure why. It’s got so many things going on. Sometimes a quick snap can turn into something so visually interesting – something you could write many stories about… It looks like something in a scary movie to me… I think it’s the moon, the angle and the house that does it.
