Just another downtown photo in Charleston, SC… We had my sister visiting, and we covered some territory, so I’m not sure where this was at? I remember thinking it was cool looking, so I snapped a photo of it. This wasn’t the best time of day to be taking photos, but sometimes you’ve got to take whatever you can get, right?
Shirtini – new shop on King Street, Charleston, SC
Whenever we have people visiting from out of town, we take them to galleries and the neat shops downtown. We always head to Old Road Mercantile, which is such a cool place… and now this shop… Shirtini located right next door. Owned by the same people (we spoke to Kevin and he is fabulous), this is one classy shop. Reminiscent of a Paris shop this has the best of the best. These gorgeous shirts, and I do mean gorgeous… tailored and special in every single way.
Just a quickly snapped photo (with permission) of just a few of the blouses they have to offer. I have my eye on a few of the longer ones to wear with leggings or slim fitting pants. How nice to look nice with one gorgeous piece of clothing!
The shop just opened, and the website is in the process of being finished, but check back, it’ll be up soon… www.shirtini.com. If you’re in Charleston, SC be sure to stop by and say hello! It is one gorgeous store!
F L A S H B A C K !
O n e Y e a r A g o: Featured Artist… Charles Williams!
We walk past these houses on Church Street each day we work at the gallery… Stunning, each one… I love the porches. I would spend so much time out there… they are so fortunate to be in the heart of everything!
I’ll be back to normal posting next week!! Don’t miss the brownie recipe below… it’s easy, one pot, and the taste… ooooooh my gosh!
HOW can you walk around Charleston without a camera? I have no idea! There is beauty everywhere, especially if you can catch that gorgeous golden light at just the right time!
I will be back to normal posting next week, thanks for sticking with me ;)
I just have to share some of the beauty that we see on our walks… weekends are best because we have time to venture to different areas, all close to the house, and all so beautiful!
The French Quarter Art Walk is this evening in Charleston, SC from 5-8PM. Art galleries in the French Quarter will have a lot to offer. It’s been a rainy and cold few days, but tonight, the rain (should) be gone and although the temps will be cooler, that is nice for popping into one warm gallery after another! I think there will be a great turnout this evening!
I took this photo last month on Second Sunday on King. A great time to get out in Charleston and walk around King Street with the streets blocked off. Read more about Paolo’s! He’s got a great story! Did you know he was a veterinary surgeon in Italy before taking time off to travel and coming to the United States to discover… no gelato! Tada! Paolo’s was born!
Second Sunday on King is a big time… check it out! If you’re on Facebook, check out Second Sunday on King, it gives you the latest!
Artist & Craftsman Supply – what a pleasure to stroll through this store. Charleston has such a unique art store, full of knowledgable staff, GREAT prices and such a wide array of choices. The only thing there isn’t… parking. They did have a few spots that they were leasing for customers, but something is being built/or changed behind that building and everything is dug up. So… right now there is only meter parking, which isn’t so bad ( and it’s FREE on Sunday). If by chance you have some big items you can either go in/call, shop, pay, and then drive up and someone in the store will run the items to you (call first to be sure they aren’t too busy). They’re doing their best to make it as easy as possible for you to shop. So if you’re in Charleston, SC check them out.

Be sure to make time to stroll through the different galleries in Charleston. We have some of the best galleries ever, with a wide array of styles to please every art loving person on this planet!
I just wanted to share one of the new pieces that came into Galerie on Broad (29 Broad Street), this is by artist Dru Warmath. Dru is a fabulous artist…she’s from the Charlotte area, and her coastal landscapes have been wildly popular. They just don’t stay in the gallery long!
Congratulations to Chad Poppleton for being named Southeastern Wildlife Expo’s featured artist for 2014! This is quite the dramatic painting. Just look at that water. I can absolutely hear it! Fabulous!
Southeastern Wildlife Expo (SEWE) begins this week. SEWE is a huge exhibit with art, wild life, demo’s… you name it, they’ve got it! This expo seems to be the kick off for the busy season. There will be a lot of people in town this weekend, and there is so much to see. SEWE has a fabulous website, check it for the EVENTS, purchase TICKETS, learn more about the ARTISTS, and check out the EXHIBITS. Of course there is more, much more, so see what all it has in store for you!
While you’re in town, don’t forget to hit the galleries nearby! Charleston is more than the #1 Tourist Destination in the USA, it is chock full of fabulous art galleries appealing to every sense of style possible. Broad Street has some great galleries, as well as a few places to stop and get a bite to eat!
There is so much to see and do this weekend in Charleston, don’t miss out! Catch you back here tomorrow!
January’s Second Sunday on King was such a beautiful day. Lots of people out and about. The perfect day to walk, take photos and nibble a few tasty morsels…
Christophe Artisan Chocolatier-Pâtissier is located on Society Street right off King Street… this is a place you don’t want to miss… the best coffee, pastries and the chocolates… oh. my.
Classy guy playing his music in front of the Apple store – he played beautifully… Wish I knew his name… if you see him today, contribute to his college tuition if you can – Charleston is such a cool city! Head on downtown (or remember next time you’re in Charleston!)…
Well, we finally got our Charleston weather back! Can’t complain too much, things were handled well during our cold snap, but it is nice to see temps creep back up! Things are definitely looking up… speaking of looking up… images of Charleston… looking up – I believe a few of these were taken during the last Second Sunday (when the city closes King Street to car traffic allowing people to walk in the streets. It’s a festive time here in Charleston!).
We just have the most wonderful architecture here in Charleston! Love, love, love it!
Little details like that bit of gold make things really stand out!
Fabulous old brick, and the color of that sky! Wow… it was a beautiful day!
Doesn’t look too bad, especially if you’re used to a cold climate. But let me tell you… things are different in the South. We aren’t used to snow and ice (I’m from Michigan, but have lived here almost 25 years, so I do know about snow/ice and all the fun that goes along with it… as well as all the beauty!) it just doesn’t happen here very often. Maybe an occasional dusting of snow ever once in a great while (the last time it snowed was years ago, snowed and then quickly melted). But this time there was ice. I’m sure you’ve heard about it on the radio. How Atlanta was crippled by the deep freeze. We were lucky here in Charleston. Officials dealt with it well keeping most people off the roads. Smart. You just don’t mess with Mother Nature!
We took a walk in our neighborhood, Charlie’s first snow, he was thrilled… was going full speed ahead looking for every single puddle and loving it! Crazy beast.
Charlie and his beastcicles…
We headed to the bakery, well, because they were open and it was something to do! It was nice to be out, and Charlie was having a blast, but his adventures in the puddles quickly turned to beastcicles on his body… time to get back home! Ha ha…
Make the best of the time you have… make everything an adventure and it will be less of a hassle ;)
Sometimes, all you need is a nice hot cuppa love… like this one from Black Tap Coffee in Charleston, SC (70 1/2 Beaufain Street). If you haven’t been there I highly suggest that you go. They do not disappoint. Ever! The coffee is different. It’s good, very, very good. The atmosphere is very with it and you will leave with a smile on your face!
Here is an image from their Facebook page (Black Tap Coffee) to give you an idea what a cool place it is:
Gorgeous, right? One day Fred and I were walking in our neighborhood (Windermere) and the nearby area (South Windermere), and we saw a house that was empty and on the market. It had undergone a complete restoration by a high quality builder in our area. This is the backyard… Low tide… Gorgeous, isn’t it? I think these two adironack chairs and the view may sell the house!
