Leslie Pratt-Thomas. Many of you know her work. Leslie is a talented artist located in the Charleston, SC area. Art is a big part of people’s lives – it makes the world a better place. In addition to Leslie’s innate painting skills and ability to capture this area so perfectly, she is such a nice person. Kind, and interesting – you will look at her paintings, and be reminded of an area, or a memory and smile when you think of the artist who painted it. Many years ago we made the move to an older subdivision in Charleston. We live in one of the first neighborhoods developed (outside of the peninsula) – developed around 1926 – Our home was built in 1931. Due to the depression I’ve read that the neighborhood was started but there was a lull due to the depression. It was not built out until after World War II.

Drop dead gorgeous, right? Mingo Point (located on Kiawah Island, SC) is a popular event venue. Our nephew and his fiancé were married here back in June. It was a beautiful wedding. Over the top beautiful. Every moment there was something stunning, the sky, the clouds (and of course, the bride, groom and all in attendance!) – When I saw these clouds roll in around 9PM I had to get some photos!

It was another steamy day in Charleston – but our late afternoon (evening) walk was still quite pretty. You can almost see the humidity in the air. This is an older street lined with large live oak trees and they’re stunning ALWAYS, but the bright pop of the crape myrtle blooms against the backdrop of oak trees certainly was beautiful! I love the light coming through the leaves. #wow I am oh so thankful for the way yesterday ended…

These grand oak trees are everywhere in Charleston, South Carolina. They’re stunning, magnificent and oh, so striking! I’ve written about them many times. They have the Resurrection fern that grows on many of them. Look at the trunk above and see the crunchy brown looking fern attached to the tree, that’s a resurrection fern. If it rains it is stunning and bright green. Once the rain is gone and the tree gets dry it turns brown and crunchy again.

This is the old Cigar Factory in Charleston, SC. Just look at the dark brick! It’s an impressive building that has stood the test of time! This stunning building was constructed in 1881 as a cotton manufacturing facility – it also survived the Earthquake of 1886 and in 1903 was leased to the American Cigar Company. At one point they made 1.5 million cigars each day!

I cannot tell you how thrilled I am with the advent of phones that carry the most phenomenal cameras ever! Who would have imagined? I am one who would lug a big camera around every vacation, trips downtown, and anywhere scenic. (Thank you, Fred, the real one that lugged the camera for me).
