Adding to the collection…

Barbara Biel creates the most amazing hearts and crosses. No two are exactly the same. They are so special. We have bought them as gifts throughout the years but never bought one for ourselves. Thanksgiving we bought the cross, and I bought the heart this year for Fred for Christmas. They have larger of both that are amazing, but the small ones are magnificent and look so dramatic in the sun, don’t they?

The Pamlico River House Plan by Allison Ramsey Architects!

This is the Pamlico River House Plan by Allison Ramsey Architects. This plan is approximately 2,875 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Classic design with amazing porches! The front porch measures 12′ deep. That’s a lot of space to spread out and really enjoy! The side porch is 10′ deep and screened which is so nice when things get a tad buggy…

Snow man and beast…

Man and Beast – Charleston, SC

Ah! The Charleston, SC snow that fell earlier this week was amazing. This weekend I’m sharing a few shots. There are so many (ok, too many) – it’s rare, so I had to document, ha ha… Fred and Charlie out and about – Charlie loved the snow – tried to eat a good deal of it. He was wild!

I have to say…

Snow Days – Charleston, SC

This may look like a regular snow day to most of you well-seasoned-in-snowy-weather peeps. But here in tropical, sunny Charleston, SC this was a rarity. A very welcomed one! I’ve never seen so many people outside enjoying themselves. You have to admit, it’s really cool as a kid, but as an adult, it’s JUST as much fun. We had about 5″ of wonderful snow – some areas around here received almost 8! As I write this…

59 Greenville Lane – House Plan by Our Town Plans!

This is the 59 Greenville Lane house plan by Our Town Plans. It’s a beauty isn’t it? This home is 3,466 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms (with an optional attic space that adds 1,098′ along with a bedroom, bathroom, bonus room, loft, mechanical room and storage!)

This home has wonderful deep porches, working shutters and so much charm – I love that steep roof!

What a fabulous plan! An open Living/Dining/Kitchen, along with a wonderful Laundry space and on the other side of the staircase a Study. Can you imagine how much time you would spend there? I can! Note the ceilings on the main floor are 12′. Pretty darn impressive! (Upstairs ceilings measure 11’3″ and the optional attic space is 9’6″) – Grand!

Just look at all these porches! Both screened and unscreened. There is a lot of time to be spent on these dreamy porches!

Click HERE for real life images of this plan – it helps to picture it!

A great upstairs configuration with a large master bedroom, a smaller bedroom, and then across the hall another large bedroom. Personally, I would use the master bedroom and make the smaller bedroom beside it a reading room. (Note that the “smaller” bedroom is still a good size!). There is also a nice office space.

There is also an optional attic configuration and it’s pretty incredible! Click HERE to see more…. Wow, the bonus space adds a bedroom, bathroom, bonus area and loft!

Catch you back here tomorrow!

goals & gratitude

This post may look familiar to some of you who are on my mailing list. This is the one time I hope no one opened their email, ha ha. I write my posts ahead of time and schedule them to publish (appear online). Well, since this was scheduled for 01/02/18 – I had forgotten to change the year from 2017 to 2018 (this happened in December) – so it published it immediately. I heard *ding* and saw my email.

Ruh. Roh. So please forgive me, won’t be the last time this year I bet 🙄 – Happy Day to you  – barbara

Ahhh, it’s that time of year – to set goals – might as well get in on the fun, and join the masses that have goals to eat healthier, exercise more, learn to cook or maybe a new language, read more books the list goes on and on…

Some of my favorites:

👍Learn to say “No” sometimes – it’s OK. You can’t be everywhere at the same time and it’s hard when you’re stretched thin with work, home, life to try to fit in one more thing. Sometimes it’s barely possible. It’s OK to say no (thank you for teaching me this, Mom!).

Charleston Sky and the Round Holiday Inn

This shot was taken in Charleston, SC heading towards the Ashley River Bridge to downtown Charleston (about a mile away). On the left is the round Holiday Inn – a landmark for many. I thought the sky was so interesting and the light at this time of morning was pretty cool too.

Whatever ventures you have in store today (Christmas shopping? Groceries for a big get together, Christmas parties, office parties, etc.) – Be safe out there!

No mountains in Charleston…

A quick snap of my phone the other day. The sun, some dark clouds, and blue sky. Quite the mix. It was as if nature didn’t know if it should be summer/winter – dry or rain! I love that dark cloud line that looks like low mountains on the horizon – no mountains here, just a swath of dark clouds!

I love weather and appreciate whatever it is outside (well, I may whine if it’s hot and humid – hee).

Enjoy your Saturday!

Paying it forward…

The coolest thing happened to us the other day. We were having lunch at Five Loaves Cafe in Charleston, SC – and as the woman walked up to our table (we thought to give us our bill), she explained that the restaurant chooses a few tables each day to surprise and take care of their meal. So there was no bill, it was on the house – they just ask that you pay it forward through random acts of kindness – give back however you can.

I have to tell you, I’ve read about this happening to other people and I always thought it was such a cool thing to have happen! There is no better feeling than giving. It leaves you smiling the entire day. It’s been fun to think up ways to pay it forward. We always try to be mindful of that, but this is extra special given the time of year…

So… pay it forward however you can, whether you treat someone to lunch, buy them a coffee, or just random acts of kindness – bringing an elderly neighbor dinner or treats – a nice visit. The possibilities are endless!

As I mentioned, Five Loaves Cafe had fabulous food! I love how you can order a half of sandwich, half of a salad or a cup vs. bowl of soup. They also have a soup “flight” that allows you to sample three different soups. We’re looking forward to going back for dinner! We also want to try their other restaurants, Sesame Burgers and Beer and Ember Kitchen (Charleston, SC).

I can tell you this post took me far too long to write – Reason? I got stuck looking at their  menu and couldn’t get out! Oh! Everything sounds so good! Can’t wait to get back…

Bravo to the GlowFisch company – you rock! Your restaurants are fabulous, good food, good people and good beliefs! We will most certainly be back!

Happy Holidays indeed! Catch you back here tomorrow!
