Some days are more celebratory than others – today is one of those days! You only turn “big numbers” once (ok, so you only turn every age once, details, details!) so you may as well celebrate in style, right? This photo was taken on a recent adventure – one that celebrated the wonderful man I married.
Most of us have a certain type of weather that we adore (or at least prefer). The weather lately has been out of control beautiful! After months of warm and humid – cool and crisp is a welcome relief! Exhilarating! Pretty photo and nice pop of color (flower & butterfly)🧡 taken on a weekend outing.
I love flowers. Everywhere, always. Light colors, dark colors – it doesn’t matter. They bring the outdoors in and make it oh so happy. So it’s always fun to see when someone takes an area that could be ok, or nothing super special and they dress it up a bit, as in this photo.
It’s never easy to lose someone who is so wonderful. A person who contributed so much to this world, made it better in every way. Penny had a gift with her words, and with her humor. I am so thankful she shared some of her stories with us. Go hug your favorite people right now, let them know how much they matter. Because time is not guaranteed and it is fleeting. I sadly share this news with you…
This beautiful flowers/vase were waiting in our room on our last vacation – when my husband surprised me with a trip to the Swag (wonderful place) for my birthday and our anniversary. Pops of color so pretty and a gorgeous pottery vase. He thinks of everything! This was extra special.
We are fortunate to live in an area surrounded by Live oak trees. They were planted when these homes were built (mostly in the 1930’s). One in the front yard and one in the back (of most). Visually, they make a stunning streetscape as their limbs have grown together over the years. The Spanish moss hangs, swaying in the breeze. The Resurrection fern grows, changing from bright green (with rain) to crumbled brown (no rain) and back to bright green again.
Ian has passed (hurricane) and we’ve been left with beautiful sunny skies. We’re done with cleanup and the City has already picked up the debris, which is no easy feat! When so many of us have huge piles by the street of branches, limbs, etc. it takes a lot of time to get it cleaned up. #yallbepatient At least we have something TO clean up. Very thankful for that.

For everyone who needs to take a breath… This post is for you! Whew, what a stressful few days – with upcoming storms and all that goes with it. Not to mention watching the TV and seeing the destruction that had occurred in Florida. Our prayers go out to you Florida! Charleston, SC and surrounding areas has been on the bad side of a hurricane (Hugo, 1989) – and it’s not something you ever forget.
This is one of my favorite photos. It appears as a screensaver often. I just don’t want the image to go away. This was a hike to a special place on our 30th anniversary. Sometimes when you take a photo it’s like the stars align. I love everything about this photo. It takes me right back to that day. Beautiful weather, good food, great people around us. Best time ever.
I receive several emails from from sites that share great information on all things techy (Apple specifically), including new features to check out (love this part!), as well as alerts for what’s going on in cybersecurity land. Heavy sigh. After all, information is power, right? Hehe.
I took this photo at Bowens Island (near Folly Beach) a few years ago. As we walked back to the car we passed several cool signs. Each one made us smile. In Charleston, we’re slowly transitioning to cooler/dryer days/nights which I am thrilled about. This, to me, is the best time of the year – hands down!
If you’re heading outdoors and need a form of tick and insect spray – wow, have we ever found a wonderful brand! We were on vacation in Waynesville, NC and were headed out on a hike with a group. A woman asked the guide about bug spray, he suggested this one here… spray it on your ankles and pant legs – “the point of entry”. Ahhhh…. I sprayed twice.
When I grabbed the bottle to start spraying, I didn’t notice that there were different scents. Not sure which one I used, I don’t think it was orange – it was nice and mild. It rubs on nice, not greasy. I sprayed my socks, pant legs and shoes. Then sprayed my arms – and then washed my hands good. Normally, I have bugs swarming around me, they love me. Not this time! I’m
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is an amazing array of ever changing views that take your breath away. This was an early morning sunrise walk (we did see some sun) – I thought this was a magical hour – so much BLUE. What you see one minute will be gone and replaced with something totally different. Each view so beautiful – where we stayed there was no TV. Absolutely didn’t miss it, didn’t even think about it once. Matter-of-fact once we arrived home we didn’t turn a TV on for over a week.
The first two flavors of Jeni’s Ice Cream that we’ve tried. #wow
I have seen Jeni’s Ice Cream at grocery stores, and remember driving by a Jeni’s in Charleston, SC (always with a long line of customers), but I never tried it. After talking with a neighbor (ALMD, you are responsible for this, ha ha) – and after recuperating after a cold, where nothing seems to taste good – Jeni’s sounded fabulous!
Do you have Labor Day off today? If so, woohoo! If not, celebrate it on your next day off! We don’t have big plans, hanging around the house – haven’t even thought about what to make today… we’ll see what sounds good and work from there! #stressfree Sometimes, it’s worth it to get up early (work or no work), as proven in this incredible nighttime photo in North Carolina.
