The large live oak trees in Charleston have such presence. They’re so strong. They have so much life with their branches reaching, twisting and turning. They are such beautiful trees. This is a close up of just how cool the shadows are on these trees. This is without the Spanish moss and Resurrection Fern. This is a younger tree. We planted it about 24 years ago, it was 10 years old at time of planting. We never guessed we would have seen it so large in our lifetime. Continue reading “A Strong Presence”
Fabulous Chicken and Vegetable Sheet Pan Dinner!

It’s so exciting to find a new recipe that has good taste and is quick to clean up! The only time consuming part of this was the prep, but I like cutting up veggies, so it was all good!

Featured Artist: Alberto Ortega!

Alberto Ortega – an artist originally from Spain now living in North Carolina. The way he captures every day living is so unique. Alberto’s paintings don’t need people in them, I can totally envision the people that live in this house just by the way he set the scene – I can think of so many stories just from this one image which is what makes it so unique. Live Oak “Squiggles”

Live Oak Squiggles. A very technical term (it may be just mine??) for those yellowish-green squiggles that appear on the Live Oak trees in the Spring after a good bit of their leaves have dropped. These trees are amazing! Continue reading “Live Oak “Squiggles””
What is this?

An abstract painting? Something from outer space?
I subconsciously am always on the lookout for a cool photo no matter the subject. Sometimes it’s the way light hits or the way shadows form. Sometimes it’s something interesting and different and sometimes it’s an everyday item/occurrence seen in a different light. Continue reading “What is this?”

A Quick Daydream Vacation…
Sometimes it’s nice to get away. Somewhere different from where you are. If the weather is hot, then a cool location sounds wonderful. If it’s cool it would be nice to feel the sun shining. Cleaning out photos the other day I ran across this photo taken years ago at the Ritz Carlton – Amelia Island. We went for a few years at Thanksgiving and what a great time we had. We found a wonderful little Italian Continue reading “A Quick Daydream Vacation…”
Featured Artist: Mark Farina!

Mark Farina. He paints all subjects – all are just beautiful. It looks like most of Mark’s work is plein air (painted from life – outdoors) – he’s able to catch the spontaneity of changing light/colors. Mark’s studio paintings have the same fresh feel to them, they aren’t overdone – which is no easy feat!
Looks like something in a movie…

I LOVE THIS PHOTO. Not sure why. It’s got so many things going on. Sometimes a quick snap can turn into something so visually interesting – something you could write many stories about… It looks like something in a scary movie to me… I think it’s the moon, the angle and the house that does it. Continue reading “Looks like something in a movie…”
