Acorn squash. Eh. I’ve made it several times for us and neither of us are a fan. This time of year it’s plentiful and piques my interest. I ran across a quick and easy recipe for it and in the comments saw several that said “Even those who dislike acorn squash LOVE this recipe”. Ok, challenge accepted. Wow, they were so right. Twice in a week we’ve had it!

A great book selection (especially for a certain group of women). This is my first Catherine Newman book. At first I thought 😳 but honestly, unless you are bothered by language and some circumstances, then this is a fabulous book. If you are bothered by either, this may not your cup of tea, but I have to say, I really enjoyed it.

TRY THIS! If you haven’t jumped on the Boursin pasta train yet, here’s a great opportunity to do so. I’ve tried many renditions, one I’ve shared (with spinach and tomatoes) but I wanted one quicker to make but every bit as tasty. Bingo! This fit the bill. It was perfection in every bite. This make enough for two good portions with a little leftover. So adjust the amounts for more people. It reheats well!

I have to say, Charleston, SC is about as festive as can be. We haven’t been downtown in quite a while so it was nice to get out on a cool day, walk the streets, pop in the shops and check things out. Visitors in our own town. What can be better? You’re home in 5 minutes, no packing required!

Carley Fortune. I love her writing style. This book has the best setting. In my mind it’s like a Dirty Dancing resort, very nice, but in a charming way. Aren’t they gorgeous? I love to see a beautiful citrus tree in a huge pot – it really can make a bold statement. We don’t have one but we’ve looked at them. Charleston, SC is Zone 9 for plants, so it’s pretty tropical but we do get an occasional frost. That being said, there are many (MANY) citrus trees around here. A neighbor has a giant old (grapefruit or very, very large lemon) tree in his backyard FILLED with grapefruit looking fruit.

I just finished another great book by Abby Jimenez! I’m a big believer in not giving details of a book so it doesn’t spoil the surprise of it all (I don’t even read the back). The way Abby writes is truly a joy, she’ll make you laugh out loud (“snort”) – some of the words she chooses just makes it funnier for some reason. This book includes a romance, despite impossible odds when dealing with real life issues. Five stars, except for the fact that I read her books far too quickly. It’s a keeper for sure!

Check to see if there are any tickets remaining to see the Sound of Music and the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Wow! I couldn’t have been more impressed! The show started on 11/4 and runs through 11/9/25! From the very first note I was captivated right until the end. Each and every person on the stage was out of this world fabulous.
