This beautiful flowers/vase were waiting in our room on our last vacation – when my husband surprised me with a trip to the Swag (wonderful place) for my birthday and our anniversary. Pops of color so pretty and a gorgeous pottery vase. He thinks of everything! This was extra special.

Trick or Treating, dressing up in fun costumes, going to Halloween parties, eating candy, even carving the pumpkin are probably most people’s favorite Halloween memories. Mine has always been the pumpkin seeds, well, at least as I got older! If you’ve got a pumpkin and you’re going to carve it – take a few minutes and roast those seeds and be in for a treat of a lifetime!

David Shingler. Wow, amazing artist who depicts scenes from all across the country. After recently being in the mountains – we got sucked in (big time) and just want to go back. David’s paintings give you the feel like you’re there. I love the distance that you can feel in this painting – because when you’re high on top of a mountain looking out at the stunning vista – at times it’s like being in the clouds, literally and other times you can literally feel that great expanse between mountain ranges.

We are fortunate to live in an area surrounded by Live oak trees. They were planted when these homes were built (mostly in the 1930’s). One in the front yard and one in the back (of most). Visually, they make a stunning streetscape as their limbs have grown together over the years. The Spanish moss hangs, swaying in the breeze. The Resurrection fern grows, changing from bright green (with rain) to crumbled brown (no rain) and back to bright green again.

Ian has passed (hurricane) and we’ve been left with beautiful sunny skies. We’re done with cleanup and the City has already picked up the debris, which is no easy feat! When so many of us have huge piles by the street of branches, limbs, etc. it takes a lot of time to get it cleaned up. #yallbepatient At least we have something TO clean up. Very thankful for that.

This Sheet pan dinner recipe of Sausage, Kale & Potatoes is heavenly. For many reasons: It’s quick, it’s healthier than other options and it makes THE BEST leftovers ever (photo above is leftovers heated on a sheet pan until hot). I just sliced the sausage so it would heat quickly. #delish

For everyone who needs to take a breath… This post is for you! Whew, what a stressful few days – with upcoming storms and all that goes with it. Not to mention watching the TV and seeing the destruction that had occurred in Florida. Our prayers go out to you Florida! Charleston, SC and surrounding areas has been on the bad side of a hurricane (Hugo, 1989) – and it’s not something you ever forget.

Sometimes when you take a photo it’s like the stars align. I love everything about this photo. It takes me right back to that day. Beautiful weather, good food, great people around us. What a great livable plan, especially for a retreat! The back porch is stunning and where I would be most of my spare time. The front is equally as sweet with a nice porch and inviting design. This is a great plan if you are on water, in the woods or in any beautiful setting where you can take advantage of the views.

I ran across this L-shaped modern farmhouse style plan and I adore every bit of it! The living space is fabulous and there’s a little something for everyone. GREAT porches – front, side, rear. I love the porch with no spindles. Do you ever get in a rut with recipes? We do. It seems like I’ll make the same dinners over and over for a while because they sound good, taste good, etc. However, it’s SO NICE to branch out and find something different on occasion.
