This is a heavenly scene from years ago… 2009 to be exact. My parents stayed with us at a cool cottage in Port Clyde before we headed over to Monhegan for a few days. What a great trip. This was out on a walk on Horse Point Road in Port Clyde. The views are stunning everywhere you look. When you mix the beauty of the sky and the cool light with the dark outline of the working boats it turns into one of my favorites!

I think this could be the most fabulous pool house (or guest house, office, studio, the list goes on) in our backyard. What fun it would be to have an outbuilding with so many uses? A separate space for your guests to stay, yet be close at the same time. I think it could be so fun. I LOVE the screened porch, it would be facing our pool and screened in, so on nice evenings you could sit outside and spend the evening!

Maine. It’s our happy place. Fred and I started visiting Monhegan Island back in 2006. We haven’t been in several years but we’re looking to getting back there at some point. I remember this photo. I didn’t sleep and was so exhausted yet so happy to be on our way to the island. We were waiting for Monhegan Boatline’s next trip to the island. It was another steamy day in Charleston – but our late afternoon (evening) walk was still quite pretty. You can almost see the humidity in the air. This is an older street lined with large live oak trees and they’re stunning ALWAYS, but the bright pop of the crape myrtle blooms against the backdrop of oak trees certainly was beautiful! I love the light coming through the leaves. #wow I am oh so thankful for the way yesterday ended…

Or is it a newly built home that is so well designed that it just looks like it fits in perfectly among homes that are much older. #bingo This plan is gorgeous, and just wait until you see the interior!

I think this image says it all, don’t you? It’s proof that ANYTHING is possible. Imagine, growing so beautifully, every part of this fern is perfection, the beautiful green, the shape of each little leaf, it’s amazing. Against all odds this tiny plant is flourishing in the tiniest spot, in a broken area of a sidewalk . When I saw it, I had to stop to take this photo. Even sun, albeit not much, found it’s way to this tucked away spot.

Nasturtiums are a favorite for so many reasons. Their vibrant color is a big draw, so striking against the green leaves! I didn’t realize how good they smell until my mom pointed it out the other day when I was visiting. Nasturtiums are also edible. I have had them on my plate several times in a nice restaurant but I didn’t eat them.

For as long as I can remember, if I am out of town, Fred will pick me up at the airport with a bouquet of flowers. This is the sweetest gesture ever. I deplane, come through the gates and see his smiling face standing with beautiful flowers and everyone is watching to see who… It’s good to be home, especially to see Fred’s smiling face!

Tulips. They’re just so elegant. I love how they move with the light. They close up and stand tall at night and open to the sun following it ever so slightly. The colors are gorgeous, the pinks, oranges, yellows and whites are my favorites. Even a small bunch is so pretty!
