Something different to start off the new year… I was thinking about how this COVID-19 Pandemic that we’ve been living through has changed our lives (temporarily!) – many of us are staying home and working from home now more than ever. We have family members we’re unable to see due to the circumstances. But just think, what if you built a duplex? Say you’re working from home, and you have a family member who may be alone and perhaps doing the same thing. Wouldn’t it be nice to be next to each other? You could both have a work from home space as well as a living space.

Woohoo, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I know we ALL welcome 2021 and are thankful to bid “Buh bye” to 2020. As I write this post it’s bizarre knowing that I’m beginning year ELEVEN of what was once a daily (how did I do it?) blog and now about 4 days/week. Not bad.
I look forward to sharing more artists, recipes, house plans and favorite things with you along with images (usually from around the Charleston, SC area, but not always).
If you design house plans or are an artist – please feel free to use the “Feature Requests” link (also located at the top of this page) – many people are hesitant because they think I charge when I feature an artist. I do not.

Can you believe Christmas is over? Where does the time go? It seems like it was just summer and now it’s after Christmas! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday, a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc. Most of these holidays center around food of some sort. So it’ll probably feel good to get out today and walk, run, or bike. I enjoy walking downtown taking photos!

Christmas Eve is a magical time. The memories from when I was a kid linger. I’m thankful and blessed to have such epic memories. One year we saw Santa’s footprints and reindeer footprints in the snow on a neighbor’s roof. Another year we saw Santa’s footprints in our living room! We couldn’t believe it!

These are actually called Christmas Butter Cookies – my family pulled the recipe out of a magazine back in the way back in the 1960’s and we’ve made them ever since. Five stars! Not only are they so tasty, but they are so much fun to make and especially to decorate. We were downtown a few weeks ago, heading back to our car we passed this Blessing Box. What is a Blessing Box? It’s a place for you to take what you need and to give what you can. Brilliant idea. I had to snap a photo so I could check it out and see what I could do to help. What a brilliant idea. Food, bags to carry the goods home, books, as well as personal things that people need to get through a day when times are tough.
