I started the ArtFoodHome.com daily (now 4 times/week) blog 1/1/11 (easy to remember, right?) and have kept it going since then. Come back each day - I share with you:
ART: featured artists, art events, workshops, etc.
FOOD: recipes, restaurants, and good finds along the way
HOME: house plans, home design, places here in Charleston...
On year 14 of artfoodhome.com - share this site with anyone who you think might enjoy it!
Early Morning, Loon Lake, Murphy’s Point by Barb Sohn 20 x 40
Barb Sohn. An amazing artist from Canada. Her paintings of islands grabbed my attention on Instagram – there is nothing like a vacation to an island (of any kind) – and she captures them so perfectly! I love the bright colors in her paintings! Don’t you feel like you are getting ready to go out on the water in a boat when you look at this painting… Nice!
This is the Vannet house plan by Dvele – This plan is 1,139 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. A sharp, modern plan.
The Vannet exterior is so visually appealing with its modern lines and mix of exterior finishes. Oh! Look at that wonderful outdoor space! How perfect is that?
Dvele. Remember that name, because you will be seeing it more and more. Modern prefab homes (in the best possible way) and offer the ultimate in luxury. These homes can do as much (dim your lights, lock your doors, draw the blinds) or as little as you like. These are the homes of the future and it’s pretty exciting. Modular building is smart because it’s being built in a controlled environment.
I can’t tell you how much time I’ve spent on their website, it’s fabulous and FULL of information! Also be sure to check out their blog!
Hester Berry. An artist from the UK with a wonderful and loose painting style. I love her strokes of paint, each deliberate and geometrical in a way. Love the light in the clouds and on the beach. She has a variety of subjects – I think you will love them all! Continue reading “Featured Artist: Hester Berry!”→
This is a comforting recipe that is especially good when the weather is chilly. My “recipes” are more like guides – add more of what you like and less of what you don’t. That’s how you come up with the very best results! Continue reading “Grandma’s Ham & Cabbage with Potatoes and Carrots…”→
I love this photo… it screams to me “OH HAPPY DAY!” – You can feel the sunshine in an almost flawless sky. The bright green of the leaves against the sunshine yellow flower. You’ll never guess where I took this photo… Continue reading “Oh Happy Day!”→
Just here to wish everyone a happy Saturday! Sending an image of
a live oak with the sun hitting the draping Spanish Moss and highlighting the resurrection fern – which is quite a miracle. Looks crispy and dead one moment and if a splash of rain hits it, turns bright green like the healthiest fern you’ve ever seen. Continue reading “Spanish Moss in Our Live Oak Trees”→
It’s always so exciting just getting to this point. To the point where you see the “Welcome to Port Clyde” sign hanging as you get ready to board the boat to Monhegan Island. Peace and tranquility are coming soon! The long days spent walking, eating, watching are on their way, woohoo! Continue reading “Monhegan Boat Line – Port Clyde, ME”→
The large live oak trees in Charleston have such presence. They’re so strong. They have so much life with their branches reaching, twisting and turning. They are such beautiful trees. This is a close up of just how cool the shadows are on these trees. This is without the Spanish moss and Resurrection Fern. This is a younger tree. We planted it about 24 years ago, it was 10 years old at time of planting. We never guessed we would have seen it so large in our lifetime. Continue reading “A Strong Presence”→
It’s so exciting to find a new recipe that has good taste and is quick to clean up! The only time consuming part of this was the prep, but I like cutting up veggies, so it was all good!
Alberto Ortega – an artist originally from Spain now living in North Carolina. The way he captures every day living is so unique. Alberto’s paintings don’t need people in them, I can totally envision the people that live in this house just by the way he set the scene – I can think of so many stories just from this one image which is what makes it so unique. Continue reading “Featured Artist: Alberto Ortega!”→
Live Oak Squiggles. A very technical term (it may be just mine??) for those yellowish-green squiggles that appear on the Live Oak trees in the Spring after a good bit of their leaves have dropped. These trees are amazing! Continue reading “Live Oak “Squiggles””→
I subconsciously am always on the lookout for a cool photo no matter the subject. Sometimes it’s the way light hits or the way shadows form. Sometimes it’s something interesting and different and sometimes it’s an everyday item/occurrence seen in a different light. Continue reading “What is this?”→
