Dreams in black and white…

Ian has passed (hurricane) and we’ve been left with beautiful sunny skies. We’re done with cleanup and the City has already picked up the debris, which is no easy feat! When so many of us have huge piles by the street of branches, limbs, etc. it takes a lot of time to get it cleaned up. #yallbepatient At least we have something TO clean up. Very thankful for that.

For everyone who needs to take a breath…

Sunrise from the Swag | Annie’s Room | August 2022

For everyone who needs to take a breath… This post is for you! Whew, what a stressful few days – with upcoming storms and all that goes with it. Not to mention watching the TV and seeing the destruction that had occurred in Florida. Our prayers go out to you Florida! Charleston, SC and surrounding areas has been on the bad side of a hurricane (Hugo, 1989) – and it’s not something you ever forget.

View from Hemphill Bald – Waynesville, NC!

Hemphill Bald – Waynesville, NC

This is one of my favorite photos. It appears as a screensaver often. I just don’t want the image to go away. This was a hike to a special place on our 30th anniversary. Sometimes when you take a photo it’s like the stars align. I love everything about this photo. It takes me right back to that day. Beautiful weather, good food, great people around us. Best time ever.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park Before Sunrise

Taken from Gooseberry Knob, Waynesville, NC

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is an amazing array of ever changing views that take your breath away. This was an early morning sunrise walk (we did see some sun) – I thought this was a magical hour – so much BLUE. What you see one minute will be gone and replaced with something totally different. Each view so beautiful – where we stayed there was no TV. Absolutely didn’t miss it, didn’t even think about it once. Matter-of-fact once we arrived home we didn’t turn a TV on for over a week.

Starry, Starry Night…

View from Annie’s Room at The Swag

Do you have Labor Day off today? If so, woohoo! If not, celebrate it on your next day off! We don’t have big plans, hanging around the house – haven’t even thought about what to make today… we’ll see what sounds good and work from there! #stressfree Sometimes, it’s worth it to get up early (work or no work), as proven in this incredible nighttime photo in North Carolina.

A Dahlia and a very happy bee!

Labor Day is almost upon us! Do you have a special recipe you like to make this time of year – especially for Labor Day, or are you just chilling and not worrying about it? I’m in dire need of a good recipe to make to celebrate a day off for my husband, ha ha… I’ve been out of the loop cooking-wise for the past few weeks… But I found a recipe for something that sounds perfect and extra tasty!

S i m p l y E l e g a n t

What a thoughtful gift to drop off – a nice surprise. As y’all know, I happen to LOVE flowers of all kinds, and orchids are so special. Most require minimum care (at least in my experience) and will bloom again in time (have patience!) – A stunning combo of colors between the leaves and the flowers. This is a small orchid, so I’m giving it ice chips…

Who Knew? So many pretty berries on a Yew!

Yew with berries

We were out on a walk, phone in my pocket and as we walked by this Yew, the berries hanging over the fence in a multitude of colors was fascinating to me. I don’t recall seeing all these different colored berries in the past. Sometimes it’s the little things that really stand out. #beautiful

Furniture moving can make your space brand new!

This is a snippet of the (original) living room that was previously the dining room… last week we moved the rooms around again – changed the furniture – and it’s like new! This is now the living room again. It’s so refreshing to walk into a space that has been completely transformed. This shot mainly showcases the view of the gorgeous trees and oh! The shadow on the wall from the sunlight on the sheepskin – Love it! Nothing like shopping your own home to find treasures and furniture, paintings etc. to change your views!

Rockport, Maine!

Rockport, Maine

Rockport is a quintessential, 4th of July, all-American, town in Maine. It’s American as apple pie (at least to me, a visitor). Just look at this idyllic setting. What’s not to adore? Of course, this photo was taken (many years ago) during the nicest time of year (September). Not too many people, which is nice – and perfect weather (thankful).
