Charleston, South Carolina has more than beautiful architecture and good food – the plants and flowers are abundant. Right now, blooming like crazy are the camellias. So many different variations it can make your head spin!
Steeples everywhere… Charleston, SC has so many churches. Churches that have stood the test of time, that have gone through so much and have survived or brought back to life after a hurricane or earthquake over the years. #somuchhistoryhere This steeple is so striking with the palm and the stunning blue sky. Let me tell you the copper gutters that you see here are huge! This is one beautiful church!
The Farmington Saltbox House Plan by Classic Colonial Homes!
I think this home is a beauty both inside and out. It looks stately from the front, but the side view is what you can’t miss! I love everything about it. This is a classic saltbox style plan as their website will explain. This plan really can look like something built back in the late 1700’s! You must visit their website to read the full description of this plan, it’s wonderful!
Health experts tell us we should eat the colors of the rainbow for good health. These deep dark berries are beyond amazing all by themselves, but when you toss them in a casserole dish and top them with a little somethin’-somethin’ they become ✨magic✨! I try to keep portions small, this is a teeny bowl ;)
Fabulous, right? I love the sweet layers of paint, applied skillfully with a palette knife. Layers of paint adds such a nice texture don’t you think? Carl has a way with color, light and a palette knife, just wait until you see more of his work. I love the winding path, the gorgeous trees, stunning shadows and the darkness deep within that makes it all stand out!
Perhaps this is a rather unorthodox Valentine image. Not the typical Cupid, roses, chocolates or kisses. But it is pretty cool, don’t you think? #cantbeetit ;) Ahh, Valentine’s Day – a dreaded day by many, a cherished day by others. A day of celebration, handing out cards and gifts or just another day? What is it to you? 💖💘
Alder Cottage by Lake and Land Studio for Southern Living House Plans
This house plan has so many wonderful features not to mention a large screened porch on the back. What a dream! The three windows in the front… that’s the kitchen! Absolutely perfect! There is a master down with an additional bedroom as well as two bedrooms upstairs with a small sitting room – so nice for guests (or family)! The one bedroom downstairs could be used as an office if you’re working from home like so many of us!
I LOVE well made items. A dog collar, from the nicest feeling leather that will hold up for a very long time and is able to get wet (this company KNOWS dogs love water), it’s just so sharp, I think, if you have a dog, you will be very interested! I just happened to have a model, although he’s a hairy little guy so it took about a zillion photos before I could see the collar. This is one sharp collar, especially with the GC stamp – very classy!
Piled High, Monhegan by Liz Prescott 10×22″ Acrylic
I love being on the lookout for a new artist. I randomly search different places, Instagram, Facebook, galleries, and sometimes Fred (my husband) is the one to spot an artist – I follow #monheganisland (Instagram) which is another way I find artists. It’s a favorite place of ours so I like to see what people paint while they’re on the island. Fred sent me a screenshot with Liz’s painting – Monhegan Buoys – a great painting and I was definitely interested in the artist (thank you Fred).
Rolling hills, a vineyard, a different climate, a stunning building that reinforced the feeling that we were somewhere far, far away. The views were exquisite, the winery was amazing, and there were oh, so many photos to be taken! What’s not to love? We truly felt as if we were in Italy!
Idea House at Fontanel by Historical Concepts for Southern Living
Just look at this amazing expanse of a porch – Can you imagine the wonderful gatherings this space could accommodate? There is also a rear porch accessible via the downstairs bedroom, casual dining space as well as the keeping room. Matter of fact, if you had glass door on the front and back door you could see in the front right through to the back!
Bowls are popular. They can be quick (oh so quick!), healthy (well, as healthy as you make them) and so darn good! It’s nice to take a day and prepare some veggies for the week, then just a quick heat up of the ingredients that sound good to you at the time and *BAM* Dinner. Is. Ready! #woohoo
When I first saw this image – it stopped me in my tracks. The words Daphne wrote about “Reaching” really resonated with me. This pandemic has gone on now over one year. By now, most of us know someone who has had COVID-19 and has struggled with it, in the best case scenarios. Who ever would have thought that a year later this would still be here and even worse than ever? Read Daphne’s words, you’ll know what I mean!
I was out on a morning walk, and ran into this sight. Whoa! Grab the phone, catch the light in the Spanish moss hanging from the live oak trees (and closest in image is a crepe myrtle). I love walking in Charleston, you always run into something to photograph… I’ve learned not to leave my phone at home!
Well, since like many of you, we haven’t been anywhere lately, so I thought I would share an image from long ago. Taken in San Francisco. Aren’t these are the coolest boats? I love how they’re lined up. They are absolutely striking! #theyhavesuchcharacter San Fran is a city where you can walk forever!
